[Update] Verizon's New Family Data Plans Begin: It's Called the Share Everything Plan

Here is the confusion that this can make. When should that SGSIII become available to Verizon? I know that you can pre-order it right now in hope to bypass Verizon's new policy. Verizon can actually change your contract to the new plan if the said phone are supposed to be released after June 28. The safer move that will allow you to keep unlimited data is by buying the available phones that Verizon have in store. So Good luck to those that ordered SGS III and under Unlimited data plan.

From what I have been told as long as you order before the date you will be fine.
They were offering the phone before they announced the plan today.
They may cut folks off after today on the pre-order but those that ordered before are safe just like those that go pick up a phone before the 28th.
Changing the terms after you ordered is a no, no.

No. They aren't changing your existing contract. Once your 2 year contract is up, they can change anything they want. If they tell you that you have to give up unlimited while still in the contract then that would allow you to get out without a cancellation fee. They aren't doing that.

so at the end of the contract they could just change your plan then and there's nothing you could do about it? I'm not sure that's how it works...

right now they are just preventing you from keeping unlimited if you upgrade your phone with subsidized pricing correct? otherwise they leave you alone.

man I hate to say it but saving money on ATT or sprint is really starting to look like a good deal for me.

lets hope these new plans start such a big fuss that VZW changes some stuff quick.

If prior history means anything, Verizon has never, at least to my knowledge kicked people off a plan.
I know people on plans that are old, old, old.
With 100 million subscribers it's quite a bit of effort to scrub the contracts and find a suitable plan replacement.
Remember, to change your plan even out of contract, you have to agree to the changes.
Up until now people have just extended their existing contracts because most people go in and get a new phone.
That all changes over the next two years so we will see what happens.

I'll be watching the industry and when VZW decides to kick me off unlimited, I'll find a new carrier.
Until then, I plan to "Ride it till the wheels fall off".

One doesn't.
Nov. 2010 or thereabout Verizon sent out an invitation for a promotion to high monthly bill users and offered a special promotion.
If you had been a customer since they had been GTE Mobilnet (me) or some other different criteria, you were offered a $20/line credit on unlimited data to keep you from bailing to Sprint.

Ha! I was a customer for less than one month & I got the deal.

I have two smart phones both with unlimited data, 1400 minutes and unlimited texting for $170 a month. No way I'm leaving that.

I'm not sure how you came to the conclusion that I illegally tether from my response.. I was simply wondering how someone with a 3.5" screen would use less data then someone with a 4.3" screen... And u said there's not chance to use netfilx? I have a thunderbolt that runs a single core and I most definitely can run and stream netfilx any time I want.

Data consumption is solely dependent on the user itself... Not the device... I know friends that have a entry level Android phone like the LG cosmos vs another friend that has the Dinc2... The cosmos has a smaller screen less processing power yet I know he consumes more data than the other friend with the bigger screen and faster chip because he just uses the internet more often.. it all comes down to how you manage your data not the device you use... The only actual factor that might make a consumer use more data is when someone switches from a 3g phone to a 4g device... Just because you can actually stream videos and video calls other than that I still don't see how screen size effects data usage.. sorry

Why are you getting your pants on fire :rofl2: ... All I said was based on my personal experience. Well mine was different to what Cybertek said. I don't pursue or said what Cybertek said is wrong was I??? Don't take offense that I accused you of illegal tethering, I didn't and sorry if you thought I did. There are others in the condition that I described earlier, so it happened. If there are companies made similar phones to my OG Droid, I wouldn't use as much data as today with 4G and bigger screen. I guess we are not living in what if moment are we as there are no 4G devices that came similar to what I had with my OG Droid so there is no point to continuing this discussion. I hope you take a look at the bold quotes I made up top as I came from OG Droid straight to Dual Core Bionic. I felt an instant impact in difference! I jumped from using less than 1GB on 3g to 2-3gb on 4GB. Please remember that the Topic at hand was do 3G to 4G always end up in using more data. of which I said All Depends ;)

this new pricing structure is ridiculous... do they think we're idiots? by throwing unlimited talk and text at us they think they can convince us that their data prices are justified?... unlimited texts now a days are almost useless since we can use apps like kakao talk... ebuddy.. etc..

i work at a MetroPCS/Boost/Virgin Mobile store and i get on average at least 2-3 people a day either breaking or leaving their verizon contract... granted these prepaid companies coverage and speed isnt the best... but it seems like people are more than willing to give up their contracts to stop getting bent over the railing by their contract companies... im thinking once these new prices go live and public ill be getting more people switching from their contract to prepaid

i ordered my S3 last week so im good for another 2yrs with my unl data... but im strongly considering a different company after my contact is up

There is no confusion I placed my preorder through the phone... I've already agreed to the new terms and conditions for my new upgrade which still has my unl data plan... I've agreed that I will commit 2years with Verizon as long as Verizon keeps my current plan and doesn't change it.. I repeatedly confirmed with them to confirm.with me that my plan will not change regardless of the when I get my S3

:icon_eek::icon_eek::icon_eek: Interesting... No wonder why Verizon are so confident about this move :rofl2: Don't get mad you can do whatever you want to do, just like I said about what I said about Devices/4G data. All about personal matter.
:icon_ peace:

OK that's good then that there are others confirming this. I am locked with my maxx till next year anyways, so this is not about my plan as this concerned to Garemlin's question.

OK another question:

If I pre-order a GSIII before June 28th, will there still be the option to switch phones in 15 days (which would put me after June 28th) if I don't like it (and still keep my unlimited plan) or is that option also gone?

I'm behind 3 pages of reading so my apologies if this has been mentioned, but here's my conundrum:

I'm going to be pre-ordering the Galaxy S3 on Friday to lock in my Unlimited data for 2 more years. The thing that troubles me is my mom's phone. She's still rocking an OG Droid and is bound to upgrade sooner or later, but I guarantee she won't until after the 28th. The problem is that we're on a family plan (along with my pops) with all of it's fanciness. So the question here is, if she upgrades and puts us on the Share Everything Plan, do I lose my unlimited data despite the new contract? Like, does that override what I would do?

Yes. If anyone on the plan upgrades a phone at the DISCOUNTED price you will have to switch to the tiered plan and lose your unlimited. If you buy a phone a full-price (or off ebay, etc) you can continue with your current plan.

June 28 is the deadline for where this new share everything plan will take effect (AFAIK). You can take a look at verizon website by logging on to your account and see when is your upgrade availability date/yr. You can also do this via Verizon app on your android if you have it installed. SGSIII apparently will ship on July, and based on others (three or so people) said that you can do pre order of SGS and keep your unlimited data. Ensure one thing as this will affect you is to confirm with them that you can do so. If she upgrades after share everything plan and use that subsidized price then yes you will lose your unlimited data as you are part of the family plan.
