(updated 6-29) Froyo Kangerade v0.3.4 - Compiled from source

This is one of the best ROMS I have played with yet. I love it, although I do have a few problems. I see im not the only one.

1. Notifications from Facebook, Twitter just are not functioning even though I have manually set them to
2. Market performance just sucks. Searching is not working correctly and is not posting results. I confirmed this with another stock 2.1 Droid is able to search for the same app and install. This ROM is saying no results found.

Maybe there is a solution, and I just missed it, but no luck.

Other then these minor qwerks it is great! Keep up the great work JRummy.

This is a 2.2 ROM, meaning if you are comparing Market results with a stock 2.1 that could very well be the reason you are not seeing the same apps.

If the dev hasn't made it 2.2 compatible yet then you won't see it so you know man, had similar things happen when my GF showed me apps she found and then weren't compatible yet.

Malyshus, thanks for the insight, but this is not the case. I just tested the same app search results on my bro's Droid, with a 2.2 ROM (Team Chaos 2.2) and he is able to search, download and install the very same apps.

These apps did not re-sync when I reactivated after the ROM installed.

So ill have to either wait for a solution or move on to another one of JRummy's roms I know to be working properly.

Actually there is a market fix from TC you just install like a ROM unless you have already done that.I have got this running well.Just need some color.=-]

Macs

Can I download this zip file on a mac and can this ruin the motorola droid. I need it for business and I need to make sure that it will work without complication.
Thanks

Stay away from BETA or TEST releases then and stick with what Moto and the big V put on your phone. Sorry to say but stocker 2.1 is the only way your guaranteed to have no issues, or at least as few as a smartphone will give you.:motdroidvert:

If your phone is already rooted, I would probably go with the Kangerade. When properly setup it would seem to be more stable. Aside from the occasional GPS glitch, my Droid is rock solid running v1.1. Jrummy himself stated that this is a first compile test release. As for doing it on a Mac, you would probably be better off just using ROM Manager, but that also requires a rooted phone.

sigh.. either legit question or subtle troll attempt.

Does this not apply to every single post ever published on any internet message board? I mean basically every post is either a legit question or troll attempt lol :r_c:

To answer adam.parrish85's original question, if you need the phone for business and do not want to have any problems, you might want to just stick to stock 2.1 and wait for the official 2.2 update in late July. Even with Jrummy's Kangerade, you will have weird problems like Maps and Market Force Closes. You'll need to troubleshoot those problems with some terminal commands.

I just posted this in the 1.1 thread, figured I'd copy/paste it into this one too:

Am I the only one who noticed or is peeved off about this: WHERE THE HELL DID "SILENT" GO? I realize that "Vibrate" is the option to have NO SOUND, but this vibrator in the phone is quite loud... Definitely not "silent" by any standard. No clue why the option would disappear, as I have found many situations where I want my phone to make no sound or vibrations of any sort - i.e. "silent" lol

I haven't tried this source build, so idk if it reappeared in the source 2.2 or not.

Its really, really, really, really painfully obvious. go to settings > "sound" then "vibrate" then choose "Always," "Never," "Only in Silent mode" (<- default) or "Only when not in Silent mode"

:p

That's all good and well, except for when you do that, you now don't have the vibrate option. Never had to go into settings before to determine my "sound" settings. I either use the lock screen, and it's respective settings, or use the volume slider to go from sound, to vibrate, to silent. It seems backward intuitive from what we had in 2.1...
