Verizon is killing me!

First, I called verizon and told them I was unhappy with my iphone and wanted an android phone. We talked about a Razr Maxx. He got me a m2 managers upgrade, told me to sell the iphone, call back and I can get a Razr at the upgrade price.

Iphone sold, called back and the rep told me I can't get the Maxx the galaxy nexus or any phone released within the last 30 days. He said that I can get the Razr, bionic, rezound and some others.

I was pretty upset last night thinking about it, called back today to get the list of available phones so I can do some research and now this guy and his manager told me that I can't get any 4g phones at all, only 3g phones. WTF!

Now I am back to my OG Droid (which I will take over the iphone any day) trolling craigslist and ebay for a new device.

Anyone else have similar issues?

What does the OG Droid have over an iPhone 4S?

Curious as to why you would choose that device over an iPhone.

It makes sense to me. You upgraded fairly recently so it'd be a stretch for them to offer you another upgrade not even a year later. The iPhone is a 3G device, so it makes sense for them to offer you an upgrade to another 3G device. I understand you had the Galaxy Nexus first, so you probably should have asked for a Rezound or Maxx first instead of the iPhone.

That's what I was thinking. I originally called to see if I could maybe add a line and get the Maxx then get a dumbphone for the extra line (which my wife would have pprobaby not liked) but before I even suggested that he just offered me the Razr with an early upgrade. I thought it was because I've been a loyal and longtime customer. Silly me.

There are a lot of reasons I like this phone over the iphone (mostly being able to customized all I want and wireless tether) , if I run a froyo rom its pretty solid.

You'll also probably get a different answer from every rep you talk to at Verizon. One of them told me I could get the double the data promotion for 4G tablets, the next one I talked to told me it was only for 4G phones. If you get an offer that sounds too good to be true from them, make sure you have them note on your account that the offer was made and escalate it if they still refuse. That'll teach them to train their reps to give standard answers to everyone.

I will be very careful from now on. My account says I was approved for a m2 manager's upgrade, will call back about a Razr Maxx. They said that's not enough to prove my case.

I'll try to limit it to just the major stuff (you can do all of this without rooting):

1) The ability to use widgets and live wallpapers.
2) The notification bar
3) Real multi-tasking
4) The ability to sideload apps and use alternative markets if you want
6) Flash support
7) Removable Battery
8) SD expansion
9) No Apple censorship

I am sure there are many I missed, but this is what I can think of off the top of my head. I would take any Android phone over any iPhone.

Well that's sucky of them. If one of their employees making a note on your account about an offer they made isn't "proof" enough, they must not vest very much confidence in their employees. The sad thing is you originally had a 4G phone (the Nexus) that wasn't working.. I'm curious why they didn't offer you a different 4G device instead of the iPhone. Oh well. I hope you get everything straightened out.

I filed a complaint with the BBB this morning and by the end of the day they found records that they offered me a Razzr Maxx with an early upgrade. What a headache! Finally over.

Did they give you the B.S. line of "It's not noted on the account" (That's why you tell who ever you talk to to note things on the account) besides, I was having some issues with them a while back and another rep who has very nice told me. "Remember we record every conversation so even if they tell you they don't have anything noted in the account they can go back and listen to the conversation and what ever they told you they will have to honor it."

Nope, they said the notes say "was offered a manager's approved early upgrade, will call back about the Razr Maxx" but that wasn't enough.

I can verify that all calls are recorded. I once worked at a VZW call center in the Midwest Area.

While all calls are recorded, they are property of verizon so a customer has zero right to hear them. On top of that, it takes a pretty high level investigation to access any calls that aren't the random ones available to management in e-quality.
