Don't know if I got much of a deal, but I had the iPhone 4, and always was getting throttled back because of "top 5%" rule. Oddly that amount was reached when I hit 2GB, since that is the top 5% for my area. Went into Verizon and told them my situation. They bought back the iPhone 4 for $200 (only paid $199 a year ago with upgrade), plus an additional $100 off of the Maxx. So ended up with the Maxx for $349 out of pocket, kept my unlimited data, and also kept my upgrade in December. Not a great deal, but I went in thinking I would get nothing.

You could have sold the 4 for a lot more online...don't do things like that through Verizon.
Yea, you are right. It was the 16GB 4 not 4S, so it can't be unlocked like the 4S, which also has a gsm sim in it. So with the additional $100 off of the maxx, they basically gave me $300 for the iPhone 4. Unfortunately, the verizon iPhone 4 is not as hot resale as the iPhone 4s.
Oh right I forgot. Every Verizon phone sucks in the resale department because of the fact that they can't be unlocked.
You should have argued with them though...told them that they changed their policies so if they didn't throttle u with 4g they should compensate u. These companies make a lot of money like this. Don't let them take your money right out of your pocket.

The blackberrys have pretty good resale value, for some odd reason. I just sold my bold for 100$. Idk why the person was willing to pay that for it. Maybe its just down here??? Maybe the guy didn't know any better? He named the price.

So tomorrow the "FREE UPGRADE"... the fabled free phone. And I just checked and the new otterbox defender, and the zagg screen protector will be here tomorrow as well. So I'm going to be spending the better part of an hour at the vzw store getting new sim cards for the bionic and the other maxx. Fun fun!!

It came, as did the zagg protector. I installed the zagg and then put the phone on charge. Waiting for it to charge, and the I will be off to the vzw store to start the process.

Wow, that's alot of data. Now as I said, my son averages 6 per month. And has since November.
Also who knows if that's the REAL reason they upgraded the line. Its just one of 8 different reasons that they told me. If I find the real reason I WILL tell you. But as I've said. I'm not the first or only person this has happened to. And we all have no hard answers as to why they do it.

What kind of phone do you have? They won't upgrade a 4g device I don't think. Yours looks like a bionic.
The line they offered the upgrade for was a DX2.... 3g. That may be part of the reason

I have an upgrade and was going to buy the maxx. Do you think if I called them and mentioned that I've been a loyal customer for 6 years and have never been late on a payment, they would give me a discount? I broke the power button on my droid 2 and these past couple months have been terrible.
