Verizon Makes it Even Harder to Keep Unlimited; Kills Device Payment Plan as of July 13

Well to me this is a Non issue. We have unlimited and the way we upgrade our phones is simple....
We pay 10 dollars extra a month to have a 3rd line. On this line we upgrade it every 2 years and get a new phone. We simply move the phone over to which ever line we want and then presto Upgraded phone through the back door. Also We wait till the phone is free. That way we are paying 240 for the upgrade. Like last time I updated to the Galaxy S4 on Black Friday of last year. It was free. However that means between me and my wife we only get an upgrade every 4 years. She is still on the Droid 4. So hopefully in 2015 she will get the Samsung Galaxy S 5 or 6.

Ironically this is exactly how I upgraded one of my unlimited lines using the Edge program, and the other was a CLNR. It's fairly easy to get them to give a newer CLNR model to replace a non-performing older model.

I have a hard enough time waiting 2 years, I can't imagine waiting 4.

CLNR?

A few months away from 3 years with my Rezound. Still going strong thanks to custom roms and some obsessive tweaking. Still nothing out there that motivates me to upgrade (at full retail to keep unlimited)...waiting for a beast with a 4.7"-5" screen.

Although I have gone crazy with widgets for RSS feeds and so memory is always an issue, hence why I've avoided upgrading to phones with only 2 gigs ram. I think maybe something will come out Q4 that suits what I'm looking for.

Actually I thought this was the case adding myself as the second line to my Son's Account to be a $10 add on -
But far from it. Not sure how this works.

Maybe the original plan has to be unlimited perhaps?
This was set up by Costco handling all the moves when I purchased the S4 there.

So, let's see if I have this straight, almost a year after T-Mobile announces its version of this plan, albeit without screwing people out of "unlimited" (ahem, 5G) data, they say, "don't sign "up" with a contract, just pay for it over 24 months". Only question and I think I know the answer already, but if you try to get out of your plan early, don't you owe the balance of what you owe on the device? Also, say a year into the "plan" you decide to upgrade, what happens to the money you paid toward the device for $25/month?

I don't see this as anything more than Verizon adding a few more mirrors to their confusing structured plans.
