Verizon Plans to Discontinue 1-year Contracts Effective April 17

I thought it was the 17th
I just realized you said it would be discontinued online. Didn't see that part.
Does that mean we can still get a one year contract if we order by tomorrow or must we order before midnight tonight?
According to the opening post, that's on the first page by the way, it's the 17th.
I'm still using my original Droid and the laginess is driving me nuts. I'd like to wait a few months to check out the Bionic but also want to get a one year contract if possible so the Thunderbold is about my only option right now.
The reason I'm concerned about the date is because I can get the Thundebolt through Verizonwireless.com for $229 on a one year contract and surprisingly Verizon corporate stores will not even match their own online prices.
Post 168 above mentions the one year contracts ending online on the 12th. I'm just trying to figure out if I have to order the phone before midnight tonight to get the one year contract.
PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCEMENT!!!!!! I JUST GOT OFF THE PHONE WITH A VERIZON REP AND, AFTER CHECKING WITH HER MANAGER, ASSURED ME THAT ONE YEAR CONTRACTS WILL MOST DEFINITELY REMAIN AVAILABLE AND WILL NOT STOP ON APRIL 17th. She even notated on my account that she told me this under the consent of the manager!!!! She says that its all a mix up with annual upgrade. No rush now, so now i guess ill be waiting on the Bionic after all.

I'm willing to bet she was just an ill-informed Customer Service Rep.
I was under the impression that Verizon ending 1 year contracts was confirmed.
vzdroid13, I just hung up with customer service and was told that the one year contracts will go away on April 17th for customers at the retail stores and after midnight tonight one year contracts will no longer be available for purchases made through Verizonwireless.com.
I guess I'll be ordering a Thunderbolt tonight before midnight.

Ordered my TB today, should be here Wed. or Thurs. Got a 1 year after lots of teeth pulling. They really made it hard for me to get it, but as a bonus, their system wouldn't pull the correct price for the 1 year, so I got it for $250!!!!!

Same here. I'm on the phone with phone with CS now. They told me it's no longer an option. I complained and he said he's gonna transfer me over to telesales to try to make it happen.
