Verizon Salesman declined insurance for me!

Well I pay 6 bucks a month but to me that's worth it. That means that over the life of the phone I will spend about $144 which is a lot cheaper than a new phone if mine gets destroyed. For the cost of a venti mocha whatever every month, I'll take it.

I went for 2 years with no ins. on my blackberry. As I got close to renewal one of the cats puked on my phone in the middle of the night. The phone lived but acquired a cloudy display. I insured my droid x.

No insurance, don't need it. I take very good care of my phones.

Those of you who are just talking about the monthly premium need to remember that you have a co-pay if you make a claim.

Yes I would but even then it wouldnt equal the cost of a new phone.

If the salesman refuses to give it to you -- which I find hard to believe but do not find unbelieveable -- you still have 30 days to get insurance on your phone. I'd put it on if you can afford it, or go with a 3rd party plan like from one of the supporting vendors or SquareTrade.

This is the first phone I have gotten insurance on, I have had 9 different phones over the years and never had it, I dropped one in the toilet 2 days after I got it, and got lucky and just had 2 replace the battery, a few months back my son left his phone in his pocket and it went through the washer. the phone is now in phone heaven. luckily it was an old phone of mine and has been replacd with another old one. I think the insurance is worth it on expensive phones and with verizon it even includes water damage

It should be based on your history. I haven't lost a phone in ten years, so obviously declined. Some people go through phones like disposable razors.
But its not so simple as getting a new phone, there is a deductible, and the monthly fee.
For the average user, obviously you're losing money if you buy insurance, or else Verizon wouldn't offer it just sayin'

I don't have insurance on my DX. Body glove, Screen protector, & a little care.

... hopefully that will hold up.

I despise most insurance and try really hard to avoid spending the dough. Imagine my surprise when after losing my droid x while travelling last week, I learned that I indeed had insurance...WOOHOO!!

I was in the same boat when it comes to adding insurance. I opted out but added it a week later.

Could someone explain what insurance will actually cover and not cover? I don't have it on my droid but after hearing some stories here, may consider it when I upgrade. Does it cover cosmetic damage...like a scratched screen?

It covers everything. I believe the deductible is $80.
