Verizon's 'Certified Like New Program' Warranty Exchange Gets New Stricter Policies

That at&t merger is sounding real good about now. This is what happens when you tell a company you do any better and knock out your competition the government will break you up. Why be the best when half ass company's like Sprint and the government take you down. Your better off just being mediocre like Verizon is now doing, I think I might be switching too depending on what at&t does.

Guess I'm about to find out how strict they are. I'm sending a Droid 2 back with a few dings and scratches but the screen is in perfect condition and that's what I've been having problems with. It's like a ghost is controlling my screen. The guy said if it's in bad shape I'll be charged 300 and that I have 5 days to return it.

If you can post some pictures of the phone and let us know what happens so we get an idea of what happens

Sure thing, I'll take some pictures when I get home and post them up.

This is the damage that its got. Hopefully you can see it. My OG Droid took better pics than my digital camera did for some reason. Guess it's time to get a new one!

That is exactly what my OG droid is doing and looks like yours too. Im to scared to even call them and try to get a replacement because of this new policy. Let me know how this goes for you.

great job VRZ! your customers are now scared to ask for help with their defective devices.

How is it even legal to change a policy mid-contract? What would happen if you write them a letter telling them you're only paying %70 of the original bill beginning 5/1/2011 because you're changing the contract because it's costing too much?

You have the right to drop the Insurance at anytime you want.

I thought this policy had to do with warranty... not insurance.
Insurance replacements cost $90 for a replacement device don't they? I know at least through Asurion they do... not sure about through VZW.

Yeah this is all about warranty. If I have to pay 300 for that few of scratches that don't even effect my screen I will be pretty pissed off. My new phone should be here today so I'll be sending the old one out tomorrow more than likely.

You have the right to ADD insurance when you want if you don't want to deal with the new draconian policy. The CLNP pertains to the manufacturer's warranty.

However, after thinking about it, I think Verizon does this as a courtesy so you're not left without a phone. The alternative you have is sending the phone back directly to the manufacturer, right? Verizon's policy wouldn't come into play there, but you're without a phone for however long it takes the manufacturer to resolve your case (days? weeks? months?). I could be wrong here though.

So how did it go for you? And crazy 300 dollar fee?
