Even if I am having hardware issues that would bring me to exchange for a new device?

Returns due a documented defect exempt you from the restocking fee. Call tech support before returning the phone.

I just got the Droid Charge, but I'm not exactly satisfied with it. Its fast and its nice, though there are screen issues. I returned my first one and got a second because the screen had a green tint (even compared to other Charge's in the store), and the first and my current Charge have weird lines that appear when locking and unlocking and I have had my phone's sound completely stop twice now, only way to get it back is a reboot.

I am having my Original Droid repaired soon (hopefully before my 14 day return policy expires) and my question is... is it possible to not have to pay a restocking fee for a phone I am finding to be defective?

I would like to just have my Droid repaired and hold out for either the SII or the Bionic. If I return it anyways and pay the restocking fee, do I get my upgrade back?

You have to pay a restocking fee.

You get your upgrade back if you return the phone.

Hi Ionide,

If returning a phone within 14 days that is defective, and it is being returned for the same model device, there is no re-stocking fee charged.

If, however, the phone is returned for a different model (even the same model but in a different color), the $35.00 re-stocking fee is charged.

I hope this information is helpful. Have a good day!

I didn't see an answer to this anywhere. I am in the same boat. I have 2 LG Envy 3 that I put the unlimited data plan on before the cutoff knowing that I would be upgrading 1 to a droid and 1 to an iphone. Well I am know ready to upgrade and when I do it online it tells me I have to pick a new tiered data plan. Is this something I will have to do at the store in order to keepmy unlimited data?

Thanks for any help..

I have a unlimited data plan on my EnV Touch which was one of the "multimedia phones" from a couple years ago. Verizon is doing tiered data plans in July except the rumor is that people that have existing data plans will not be forced to change. My questions is does my data plan qualify? Or do I have to have a smart phone before july that will change it to a "smart phone data package?" I thought the unlimited data package was the same for whatever phone but If I have to run out and get a smart phone before July I may do that. I was hoping to get the bionic but his could change things.

Not available. If you dont have unlimited smartphone data you aren't grandfathred in.

Unlimited Smartphone data plans and unlimited "feature phone" data plans aren't the same. You had to be on a Smartphone data plan (and on a Smart phone) to be grandfathered in on a Smartphone data plan. You are grandfathered in on a "feature phone" data plan. If you want a Smartphone now (Android, iPhone, etc..) you will have to move to a Smartphone data plan, which unfortunately is now only offered in tiered configurations.

Thanks for the help. Guess I can shop around for other providers now as well. Have been really happy with Verizon for many years but I specifically asked when I called to add the data plan and they said it would be no problem.

I have Motorola Droid 1 that I pay $29.99 a month for unlimited usage (1/2 through the month I've used over 3.5 gigs so far). I went to the Verizonwireless online store to upgrade to the Thunderbolt. It says my current data plan is not compatible with the Thunderbolt, and I have to change. This makes no sense since both are smart phones, both using the same data.

What do I have to do to make sure I never loose my $29.99 UNLIMITED DATA plan?

Now going back, it seems I have to change plans if moving from 3G to 4G. Is the the deal?

From what I understood, as long as you had a smart phone data plan (as opposed to a feature phone data plan), you would be grandfathered in on your $29.99 unlimited. Droid1 is a smart phone and it should not matter if moving from 3g phone to 4g phone.

I believe the rep did not know what she was talking about.

If they told you this when you added the data plan on your feature phone, then I would call Verizon and argue that this was their mistake; that the whole purpose for you adding the data plan was to be grandfathered in; if the rep had told you that you needed a smart phone to be grandfathered in, you would have done so at that time; but bc she said you be fine, you didn't; and now your stuck with exactly what you were trying to avoid. Then tell them you want the unlimited data plan to fix their mistake.

Verizon is pretty good at correcting their mistakes. Keep calling until you get a rep that agrees with you. The timing of you adding your data plan should be sufficient proof of your purpose for doing so.

Ok, let me set the record straight for unlimited data plans. If you had the $29.99 feature before the cut-off. Whether on a multimedia phone or a 3g or 4g smartphone, you will be able to keep it. If the feature falls off when you transfer to a different device, you just need to contact VZW customer service and can get it added back on. If there is a situation where you have to temporarily activate a feature phone, like an insurance claim, You must reactivate a smartphone within 14 days and CONTACT CUSTOMER SERVICE!

This is from an inside source!

If you have the $29.99 unlimited plan with a feature phone (multimedia phone, non- smart phone), you will lose your unlimited if you try to switch to a smart phone. You can only get unlimited data on a smart phone if you already had unlimited on the smart phone b4 July 7 th.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------@TisMyDroid,You are absolutely correct. If you currently have a Droid (Smartphone) and grandfathered into the $29.99 unlimited data plan you are able to keep that data plan when upgrading to another 3G or 4G Smartphone. Hope this clarifies everyone's concern.VZW_CS^JBFollow us on Twitter @VZWSupport

But if you have unlimited data on a multimedia- feature phone then you have to choose a tiered data plan if upgrading to a smart phone (ie. Droid), correct?
