Want a nexus but worried about the hardware...

I just want a pure android phone with ics but I am really leary about Samsung's hardware.

I was warned not to buy an HTC phone, didn't listen and bought a thunderbolt.......worst phone ever.

I have heard bad things about Samsung also....what to do what to do?

I guess just restrain myself and wait for a while to see what happens.

If Motorola would have just kept their ui off of the razr.

That was also my only concern about the Nexus, but I'm also very careful with my phone and I have the insurance so its not that big of deal. Also, my friend has a Nexus S and its an amazing phone!

Here is what you can do.

1. Get the nexus. You have 14 days to return it. No questions asked.

2. Get the nexus. If you end up having it for more then 2 weeks and don't like it. Sell it. Use the money you get off the nexus to get another phone.

Just remember option 2 will only work if you you get it from a place that doesn't require you have the phone active on the line for 181 some odd days.

I do as well. I use my navigation on my phone daily. As far as I know, my friend doesn't have any issues with his gps as he also uses it everyday. I'll have to ask him and get back to you.

GPS issues were with the Galaxy S series only, not Samsung in general. Everyone I know with a Fascinate said their GPS works fine after their last update. This was a software issue, not hardware.

If you buy it from Costco, it will be $10 cheaper, you get 14 days to return it, then 90 days to exchange it for another phone. I bought my bionic from Costco and I'm probably going to end up exchanging it since the GN will probably come out before my 90 days are up.

I've only ever heard complaints about Samsung's hardware, not its software - it's said that Samsung phones often feel like cheap toys made from crappy plastic. However, the Slashgear hands-on review of the GNex suggests that it's been substantially improved in that department.

How about reception in general?

My tb is terrible, especially indoors.

I'm in an area of great reception with every phone I've ever had except this HTC.

Thunderbolt is an HTC phone, not Samsung. Reception could obviously also be affected by your geographic location.
Agreed. Usually it's these external factors that you can't control that lead to bad reception, not the phone itself.

And I know the tb is an HTC phone.

My point is that I've heard complaints about Samsungs radios, be it Gps,phone, etc.
