Believe me, I really would've liked to stay with VZW and grab a Galaxy Nexus and I can justify the price more than the wife can, but I'm very satisfied with the coverage and customer service that I've had with sprint so far. You said you live in central NC as well and I'm assuming it's in the RDU area. If that's the case the coverage may be different than mine. I'm in the Winston-Salem area.

Not every phone has it. There are also tools to.detect it and instructions on how to remove it.

I wouldn't touch Sprint after all this Carrier IQ mess.

My reason for leaving Big Red isn't for signal issues. I have an issue with having to put up with a run around when I needed to change something. Most of those changes resulted in a higher bill without adding anything special because they've made changes on their end.

They could not combine two accounts into one without continuing to send me a second bill for one of the accounts in spite of me "correcting" the problem with customer service. How many times was I supposed to send them a double payment for the same line? They insisted on charging me an early termination fee when I clearly did not qualify for an early termination fee. About five or six years after paying the bogus charges to get their crap off my credit report, it all shows up again. Makes a person want to sue them.

VZW has no customer service skills at all. a girl i know is leaving vzw due to a super sh*tty upgrade experience. She bought the Red Inc2 and it stopped charging, vzw has no red in stock anywhere(or so they told her), and they wont switch her to the black inc2 because "color counts as a different phone". she is still within the 14day window, but they give her no help. Just a "pay $35 restocking fee and then buy another phone". so she paid the $35, opted out of upgrading and resigning the 2year contract renewal and is cancelling.

That's BS..... she needs to go to a corp store and request to see where the policy states that color is considered and a refund on the stocking fee. Its a failure of their product...

She said she argued with them at the corporate store and they said there was nothing they could do. its complete BS. She should have came to see me(like i told her to, at Target Mobile), i could have got her the Rhyme for free the same day she spent $70(or whatever the price was) on the red Inc2.

With any carrier you're gonna have bad customer service stories. It's not possible to run a large business such as these and not have issues arise. I've had great customer service with VZW and so far Sprint. Case in point: I signed my daughter's line up for international calling rates when we were on Verizon for her to call Germany. They neglected to apply it correctly and we got a $3000.00 phone bill. It did take me 2 calls to get it rectified because the first rep didn't finalized the credit like she was supposed to, but I had no problem getting the $$$ credited back to my account.

I do realize there's good and bad everywhere, but enough is enough. I came to vzw during the alltell merge. It's been a problem ever since. Had to get new vzw phones as the alltell phones never had an issue until they started switching the towers. Then had issues with the new phones, they for whatever reason, had them couple to the old tower scheme. Billing errors, csr's that were not educated, and just a general run around every time I called.

As for the Carrier IQ issue, I know which phones may or may not have it and what to do to fix that issue, so that's really a non-issue item.

Well, if you decide on the Photon I don't think you'll be disappointed. I absolutely love mine. I rooted it within a couple of hours of opening it although I haven't unlocked the bootloader yet. It runs great so I don't think I'm going to ROM it. I still have my OG Droid for that.
