What have YOU done with Tasker?

I am loving this program a lot! I would like to know how to set tasker to send a SMS to myself a a specific time? It sounds simple to me but I used the Send SMS and then the Time Contexts but it's not sending at the time I designate...Thanks for the help!

Can you provide the exact details of the profile so I can help troubleshoot please?

Here's what I have:

New Context: Application>Handsent
New Task: Phone>Send SMS
I filled in phone number and message to be sent & clicked Done.

New Context: Time (Checked only the "From:" box) filled time (13:00)
Done
Apply

I even tried putting the months and days but that didn't help at all...

Thanks for the help!

Remove the context Application and try it. Let me know what happens

Can I have a new task without a context? When you create a profile the profile won't save unless there is a context associated with it?

Is it working?

The test one i did worked this morning...I have it set to go for 1pm so I'll know for sure in about 15 minutes! Thanks for your help. It's funny how one little change can make a huge difference in the coding...

Anyone know if it is possible to invoke the default lockscreen? If so what is the action/intent used? I am trying to create a profile to show lockscreen during phone call when screen is off to eliminate cheek dialing. I am currently using WidgetLocker to do so but like the MIUI default lockscreen better. Thanks in advance.

Hello and Thank you

I finished my profile for Wifi on. It seems to work well

Profile one:
Context: Cell Near and Airplane mode off
Task: Set %Home to 1
Exit: Set %Home to 0

Profile two:
Context: Variable %Home set to 1 and Wifi Near with toggle wifi checked.
Task: Turn Wifi On

Profile two
Context: Wifi Disconnected and %Home=0

Please go into a little more detail how to set this up. I'm having trouble finding some of these options.

Thanks.

Low Battery usage Wifi Enabling profile using Wifi Near - Tasker Wiki

Hello everyone,

I have just joined this forum and have been loving the amount of things that you can accomplish with tasker and droid. I have recently gotten a droid phone and I have to say that I can't believe that I was able to live without it. I will tried using the many of the profiles that everyone has been working and had much success. The only one that I have been trouble with is the one that I have quoted above. It seems that my wifi gets turned off even if I'm still home. I have collected cell towers near my home but it still turns off my wifi. It has gotten so bad that I'm now using the Location without tears suggestion but this requires the wifi to be always on. Can anyone help?

Phone: LG Ally running Android

Thanks

Chi-Chi,
I have been getting the same complaints from others an am working on a new way to turn Wifi off. Hopefully I can figure out my issue and get it fixed this week.

I tried to get this to do what you want but everything I tried failed. I can't find a command to have the screen turn off and the lowest timeout I could use was 7 seconds. I can post what I have this evening so you can work from that.

On my D1 I haven't had a single issue of cheek dialing because the screen turns off when I put the phone to my ear (thanks to the motion sensor).

I've abandoned my last attempt at improving the wifi off part of my profile. Here is a new one you can try. I won't be able to test it for a few hours but if any of you can I would appreciate it.

New - type: Wifi Off - Ok
State - Wifi Connected - Invert - Done
Tasker - Wait - 30 seconds - Done
"+" - Net - Wifi - Off - If %WIFIC matches 0 - Done
"+" - Tasker - Profile Status - Press Magnifying Glass - Choose: Wifi Off - Set: Off - Done
Set the priority of this task to 1

New - type: Connected? - Ok
State - Wifi Connected
Varaible - Variable Set %WIFIC to 1 - Done
"+" - Tasker - Wait - 1 Minute - Done
"+" - Tasker - Profile Status - Press Magnifying Glass - Choose Wifi Off - Set: On - Done - Done
Add Exit Task
"+" - Variable - Variable Set - %WIFIC to 0 - Done - Done
Set the priority of this task to 9

I have had this issue as well. So far what I have seen is if you are at home and your wifi off profile comes on go back into tasker and edit the cell near context, hit scan and then done, then apply. More then likely your phone connected to a tower you hadn't saved yet. This will save the "new" tower to that profile.

Everytime I do this it seems like I pick up a new tower and my home on and wifi on at home profiles kick right back in.

hope this helps

Thanks for trying. Is there a command to activate lockscreen though? I was going to use proximity sensor to trigger it. My proximity sensor works, I just have a problem when I hold phone between head and shoulder which I do often.

There is a command to enable/disable the lockscreen to come on after the screen is off. Its under display. But you won't see it till the screen is off and then back on. You can't just make the lockscreen come up

wowsers...last time i checked this thread it was like 5 pages back. I've gotten a couple PM's about setting up profiles - I'll try to frequent the board more often, so go ahead and keep posting questions for me here.

I'm gonna catch up on the thread.
