What have YOU done with Tasker?

Question About Location Based Things

Trying to have wifi enabled when I open my browser (which I was able to do fine) and only when I am at home.

I just am not sure how to set this 'at home' condition.

Like I know how to set Location when starting an event but how can I set it as a criteria for an event like open browser?

thank you all!!!

I just started playing with Tasker yesterday, but this is one of the few things I know how to do, thanks to this post by NebulaOcton:

You can use his "Home" profile from there to set the variable %HOME to 1, then create any number of profiles that are triggered by State - Variable Value - %HOME matches 1.

You should be able to add the Location as another condition by clicking on the current condition that you have (browser is running) and then hit the add button. Then just add the location condition that you want. Hope that makes sense...

how are you getting the link to the map in your email?

Sorry, thought I'd picked that technique up here, but it was from elsewhere. Once you turn on GPS, then set up a Get HTTP function. I got it from this Wiki Profile: Locatephone - Tasker Wiki
Just copy the server location text to the first line of the Get HTTP function then in the message/email body enter %HTTPD and the link to your Google Map, based on your GPS coordinates, pops up. I drop the GPS coordinates and battery level info as it isn't relevant to letting someone know where I am.
Steve

I set it up and it sends a text back with a link like this:
%LOC - Google Maps

But that just brings me to Philadelphia it looks like, which is where I live but um that doesn't help much...

any ideas?

I am loving this program a lot! I would like to know how to set tasker to send a SMS to myself a a specific time? It sounds simple to me but I used the Send SMS and then the Time Contexts but it's not sending at the time I designate...Thanks for the help!

Automatically send pictures I take to my email?

Hi everyone, I am new to this forum and I am new to android in general and I have just downloaded tasker. I have been playing around with it and it seems very powerful. My wife has always wanted to be able to have her phone automatically send pictures she takes with her camera to her email. I was hoping someone out there might be able to figure out a way to make this happen with tasker. Thanks for the help everyone and I will be frequenting this forum as I am sure this will not be my last question about tasker.

Can you provide the exact details of the profile so I can help troubleshoot please?

I don't think this can be done with the normal camera app. However there might be a way to do it. Let me investigate and I will let you know.

Ok I think this can be done but I am going to have to learn more about scripts and using them with Tasker. Tasker doesn't natively allow attachments to email but I have found a script that will let me do that. I should have time to learn either this weekend or next week. I will let you know when I have a working profile.

I am not close to being done but to get started:
Install this http://android-scripting.googlecode.com/files/sl4a_r3.apk
Then follow the instructions here InstallingInterpreters - android-scripting - A howto for installing additional interpreters. - Project Hosting on Google Code to install python. Both are going to be needed for this profile.

You are also going to need this http://tasker.wikidot.com/local--files/sl4a/sendemailA.py saved to your /sdcard/sl4a/scripts/ directory on your phone.

Now, after I figure the rest out I will post the profile. If you have questions about this stuff refer to this: Using SL4A with Tasker - Tasker Wiki and this thread: https://www.google.com/accounts/Ser.../tasker/browse_thread/thread/e5be4f150d9faaab

Obviously this is going to be very involved.

Here's what I have:

New Context: Application>Handsent
New Task: Phone>Send SMS
I filled in phone number and message to be sent & clicked Done.

New Context: Time (Checked only the "From:" box) filled time (13:00)
Done
Apply

I even tried putting the months and days but that didn't help at all...

Thanks for the help!
