What have YOU done with Tasker?

Hello everyone,
I need to make in Tasker when in night phone go to the sleep mode if someone call me then my phone send him a message (i am sleepeng and call me after 6 am).

thanks a lot

Look at the wiki for the walkthrough on reading SMS and the one for roll your own find my phone application. What you need to do is create a profile the turns a variable % nightmode or whatever you like on and off based on date time. The have another profile that IF that variable is on and sms received THEN send an sms to last sms sender with your current message. You could also use a home screen widget to toggle that variable on and off.

Andy

i am new with tasker and i have problem with this. can you write whole setup?? i dont need for received sms i need for incoming call.

thanks a lot

could use some help! i'm very new and most of this is over my head! But i would like to create a work profile that is pretty simple, just turning vibrate mode on and bluetooth off if that will save me some battery. i've tried doing location based with gps, and cell towers none of which will work for me.. what i think could work with some help.. is a wifi location.. but i only can pick up the wifi signal when i enter the building and when i leave the building (not while i'm actually at work!) So i would like the profile to activate when it picks up the signal for the first time and remain on even when it doesn't read the signal... then when it reads the signal for the second time have it deactivate the profile.... hope that makes sense to someone and maybe you can help me out??? thanks in adavance!!!

Here is a description oof a profile to set and clear the variable.
Profile: Nightresponse
Time: From 20:00 Till 07:00
Enter: 52
A1: Variable Set [ Name:%NIGHTTIME To:On Do Maths:Off Append:Off ]

Exit: 53
A1: Variable Set [ Name:%NIGHTIME To:Off Do Maths:Off Append:Off ]

This will send the sms if the variable is set

Profile: NightSms
Event: Variable Set
Enter: 55
A1: Send SMS [ Number:%CNUM Message:I've received your message but an sleeping. Store In Messaging App:On ]

Ignore the 52 and 53.. Enter and exit indicate the enter and exit task descriptions. If you want send me a private message with your email address and I will email you the teri profiles so you can download to and import them from th tasker directory on your memory card.

I don't think the profile you describe is going to save you any significant amount of battery power. Do you have set work times?

Here is what I am thinking would be best, make one profile that on bluetooth disconnect and a certain time frame, disable bluetooth and turn off vibration. Then make a bluetooth scanning profile. Have it scan for 30 seconds every 2 minutes for the time you normally leave work. Once connected to your device it stops scanning and turns vibration back on.

If you get back to me early enough today I can probably have this for you by this afternoon.

I tried to get this to do what you want but everything I tried failed. I can't find a command to have the screen turn off and the lowest timeout I could use was 7 seconds. I can post what I have this evening so you can work from that.

On my D1 I haven't had a single issue of cheek dialing because the screen turns off when I put the phone to my ear (thanks to the motion sensor).

Thanks for trying. Is there a command to activate lockscreen though? I was going to use proximity sensor to trigger it. My proximity sensor works, I just have a problem when I hold phone between head and shoulder which I do often.

There is a command to enable/disable the lockscreen to come on after the screen is off. Its under display. But you won't see it till the screen is off and then back on. You can't just make the lockscreen come up

This is exactly what I want to do. Screen turns off as usual during call, but when I pull away from ear and screen comes back on I would like to show the lockscreen so I have to unlock before ending/muting call. Can someone explain how please. The only thing I see under display is a "lock screen" with password? I am hoping there is a way to get default android lockscreen to show up. Thanks in advance.

Lock Screen will enable/disable whatever type of lock you have currently set up. So if you are set up to use the pattern lock, that is what will show when your screen comes back on, but I don't know if it works when on the phone I will try to work on this tonight.

thanks for the response Nebula!
But i have all different work hours every day, so that wouldn't work for me....
the bluetooth isn't really important to me, its mostly that i would like to get my phone on vibrate when i'm at work. and if i had a work profile working i might add some other stuff to it.

Would it be convenient enough for you to just press a widget on your homescreen? That would be easy to do.

Using the wifi near profile would cause you to scan all day unless you also based it on Cell location but then you still scan all day at work. Unless you had a set amount of time you are at work like say 8 hours on a rotating shift. Then I think I could get it to work. But if you are there at different times for different lengths of time that would be battery intensive too...

What issues did you have with cell location and gps?

I assume you use Bluetooth in your car. Do you pair to something everytime? I can write something to ask you if you are at work when it unpairs.

Actually after writing all this I have another idea on how to get it to work with cell near and wifi near... I need to think about it a little more and write it out on mine and I can get back to you on that. But let me know about the other stuff I asked too.

i hadn't considered the widget idea, and i'm liking the sound of that, just hadn't thought of the fact that i could have the widget do multiple things for me like the bluetooth and the vibrate.
my problem is i'm a tennis pro in a big complex and when i get onto the courts wifi, gps and cell near all seem to stuggle as well as i don't want to keep them running when i'm not at work, although i'm not sure i did any of it right!
as far as bluetooth.. i have a home profile that is set to my home wifi and when i leave the house and the home profile exits it turns on my bluetooth cause i just use that while i'm driving..
thanks for the help and ideas... i'll begin to play with the widget idea, obviously not that big of deal for me to push a button on homescreen when enter and leave work.

Cool, let me know if you need a hand.

I don't have a "lock screen" under display. Only "lock" which seems to be for password protecting apps. Maybe I'm missing something or need to start looking for a plugin.

Sorry the option is keyguard

Hmm... keyguard doesn't seem to do anything for me. Guess I'm SOL. Been trying to get this profile to work for a long time without any luck. Seems like it should be a simple one too. Anybody know a way to lock screen during call?
