What have YOU done with Tasker?

I hate having auto-rotate on as it makes ADWLauncher rather laggy. The only problem is some Google apps are tied to this setting too. The only one that bothers me with this is Gallery. I hate not being able to rotate my phone and see pictures in landscape unless I slide out the keyboard.

Fortunately I figured out that Tasker can set auto-rotate on when I open gallery and back to off when I close it!

So I've been using tasker a while for a few things like auto car dock, wifi detect, and auto reboot. I finally decided to go with random ringtones and notifications. I have to say I LOVE this. Random tones is the way to go. I was wondering if anyone has come across performance issues with having a large selection in the random tone list? I'm at about 30 tones for calls and 35 for notifications. I'm NOT experiencing any lag but I'm just curios if anyone has come across a limit within the list. Thanks!

I've been using tasker for a while now. Thanks to everyone who has shared a profile. It's made learning the program much easier. Even if I didn't use the profile, seeing how it is setup helps the understanding.

One thing I'd like to do, but haven't seen, is to add an abort to my sleep profile. I've setup a Popup notice of "Going into sleep mode". Added a wait of 10 seconds and then the rest of the profile runs. What I can't seem to figure out is how to abort the remainder of the profile if any type user interaction occurs during that 10 second period. I just want it to stop if I'm still awake and using my phone. Then I'll make it try again in 30 minutes.

Any suggestions?

I would try a menu instead of a pop-up notification. Within the menu you can select a default task to run if nothing is selected after 10 seconds. Then you can set your menu options to be the sleep profile or another task that waits "X" minutes and shows the menu again.

GPS and Navigation.

I've tried several ways to get Tasker to turn on GPS if and only if I open Navigation. The IF part is no problem. But my phone or Tasker seems to register Google Maps as opening Navigation.

So, for instance, if I do some version of the normal way (Context: open Navigation. -- Go Home, GPS on, Wait, Load Navigation), then when I open Google Maps, it goes through this cycle, never letting me get to Google Maps because it routes over the Navigation.

Does anyone else have this issue? Is there a way to differentiate between the two.

Right now my solution is to create a shortcut to a task (GPS on, open Navigation) and replace my Navigation button with that shortcut. No problem, except there's no exit task (i.e. turn off GPS) and it doesnt work in Car Mode/Home/Panel.

hi guys... trying to figure tasker out. i had a touch pro 2 and when i was in a call i could flip it over on its screen and the speakerphone would pop on. how can i do that with tasker?

i was looking and i can't even find an event stating that i am in a call. i know i am doing something wrong but tell me :)

This may take some trial and error but I would try calling the event by a gesture and then having a task turn on speaker phone if you are in a call.
Something like this...
1. Event: gesture=flip phone over
2. Task: if call time > 0 turn on speaker

Try playing with the if variables but I would start there.

I need help setting up tasker to start wifi tether when placed in the car dock. Thanks.

Make a new condition, state docked, see if that works. As for the tether part, it might try to use the official hotspot app, which might be problematic if you use a rooted free tether. You could just make it launch that app if it does not work.

is there any way to turn off all of the notifications for tasker? i just want it to do the things i want it to do and not tell me after firing every event/task. i have it doing a vibrate pattern for an incoming call and i get the little tasker icon up top with like 57 on top of it.

If u are refering to the tasker icon on the notification bar then open tasker and go in to preferences. Under the monitor tab unchecked run in foreground.
