What is the "Audiovox Desire"?

Ok, so my moto droid was stolen. Asurion did not have any more droids in stock, so they are sending me a "Audiovox Desire". I know that audivox is HTC. I also asked asurion repeatedly to make sure they were not sending me an eris and they told me the were sure that they were not as they would tell me I was getting an eris. I have been looking around online, and it does not appear that the desire has or even will be released in the states. The phone is supposed to be here monday and I am concerned as to what the hell they are sending me.... Someone please help?

Audiovox is HTC? Cool, didn't know that. Anyway, what phone you will be probably getting is the HTC Desire, as shown here HTC - Products - HTC Desire - Specification. If you don't mind not having a physical keyboard, consider yourself a lucky man...1 ghz processor, Android 2.1 (might be a bad thing, don't know if 2.1 on the Desire has been rooted yet), Sense UI. I don't think this phone will work on Verizon though, there has been no news of Verizon planning to sell this phone
 
Yeah see, thats kind of my concern.. I have read nothing about this even being released yet in the states... I actually hate having the physical keyboard on the droid... I feel it is a waste as I never use it and find the touch keyboard much faster... If in fact I am getting a desire, I am thrilled, but I really have a funny feeling about this...
 
Wow, then you're quite lucky to get the Desire if it works on Verizon =) If I were you, I would call HTC customer service and ask them if it's compatible on Verizon.
 
Yeah, I was actually looking at that HTC site earlier and I beleive it is wcdma and not cdma... So no verizon. I am so confused
 
Yeah you should probably call up Asurion and let them know that they are sending you an incompatible phone. If you don't like the Droid's keyboard, try asking them for a Nexus One. Or even better, if you can get some money rather than get a new phone, I'd wait two weeks (if you can) and wait for the HTC Incredible to come out. It's supposed to come out very soon. HTC Incredible dropping on Verizon in two weeks
 
Wow, I really hope for your sake it's just a mistake. And you end up with another Droid. But, if it does come to pass, damn, that'd be epic. Take some pics for posterity.
 
Oh by the way, that red back of the Incredible isn't actually how it looks. It has a black cover and you can take it off to reveal that red....thing?
 
the audiovox desire is the droid eris thats the name they have it listed under through asurion
...

If they send me the eris, I am gonna flip... That would be so awefull. I cant give up my droid for that...

And to make matters worse, I keep seeing these moto droid commercials every ten minutes on tv. I wish I could find the **** that stole my droid.

Eris isn't a bad phone..but if I were you I'd definately try getting some money instead of a replacement and going after the HTC Incredible coming out. The thing has a damn FM tuner!
 
yeah i read it another forum the person wanted to see what their deductible would be and they couldnt find the eris was listed under that name audiovox desire...yeah id be pretty ticked also it is a big step down from the droid i have both but only really use my droid...you can google it and an image of the eris will pop up..

Just wondering, why do you have the Droid and the Eris? Says so under your name
