What Phone Are You Upgrading From?

Coming from 3 Galaxy S4's...refurb and trashed. I'm pretty hard on them. Got it through work and get a new one about every 12 to 14 months. I have to say that it is a complete overhaul from the GS4. I've heard reviews that say its the same thing, but the improvements are many.

-Screen - Side by side with the GS4 its not even close. It represents the whites much more accurately. Had it up against my wife's iPhone 5 and it produces the same vibrant white (Been waiting for that for a long time)
-HUGELY improved email (not GMAIL...that still sucks IMHO) but the email client from Samsung that connects to Exchange. Swipe to delete and many others...just an all around top notch app. For those of you that don't really like the GS3 or 4, this one is a winner.
-HUGELY imroved calendar app. Same thing as above. Just a cleaner more fluid and consistent look and feel.
-Much less Sammy bloat. They have really toned it down and the whole experience feels more streamlined. There is a distinct demarcation between Goole and Samsung on GS3 and 4. This feels like a more integrated blend of the two.
-Lower Left Soft key - It's now opens running apps. I really like that they pushed the app specific "settings" into the upper right hand corner of all the apps.
-Battery life - smokes the GS4. I know its a bit bigger cap battery, but it seems to me like they have optimized 4.4.2 here. I had 4.4.2 on the GS4 and it didn't work out very well.
-It is all around faster. I know, I know its a faster CPU, etc, but its fast!

I can't wait to see what they do with the NOTE4. I couldn't hold out for that long and receiving a 4th refurb GS4 from VZW was not an option.

I'm upgrading to S5 after my second Razr Maxx, which is dying due to overheating/swelling battery - same as happened with my first Razr Maxx. So one of the biggest draws for me about the S5 was a removable battery.

Congrats to you and everyone who is getting the S5! Been there done that with Verizon more times than I would have liked. We stick with VZ because they give the best coverage for us here.

That's been my debate for quite some time. Right now the S5 wins out because I figure I've got my N7 for the times I want a little larger screen.

I have had the Note 3 for a week now with kit kat right outa the gate. The phone was having major battery issues and serious lag. after Samsung people tried to do a factory reset it froze, wouldn't reset just froze. they couldn't do anything, went to verizon they declared it a dead device and gave me a replacement. I am charging it now. I'm just wondering in my few more days of grace period if I just forget the Note and it's wonderful size and pen and get the S5 which has the kitkat already in it. and I have heard nothing bad about the S5. and nothing bad about the Note 3 except for the kit kat update on it is really hit or miss. I just want a phone that works for two years. I am frustrated. I really like the way the S5 feels in my hand, but I'm afraid i will miss the pen and the s note, can you write with your finger on the s5 instead of typing to take notes? I have thought I could just get the S5 the invest in a small tablet to do my art use it as a portfolio to show my art work. Help, confused.

I would stay with the Note 3 but I'm prejudiced as I think it by far the greatest phone since the Note 2.

Ill be upgrading to the Note 4 in October or as soon as the new model is launched. Even if Apple releases a Phablet.

I will be moving from the Droid Maxx to the S5 in August (I get a new phone every year for selling VZW).
When the S5 was first announced, I was skeptical about it because I really liked the S4 and didn't see what Samsung could improve on. It wasn't until I was given a Sprint S5 last month that I realized just how much I love the phone. The camera is absolutely amazing, the signal strength is matching my Moto at my house (I lovingly call it the Dead Zone), and there are so many more things I love about it. Samsung really made a huge upgrade with this phone, unlike the S3 to S4, in my humble opinion.
As much as I love my Motorola phones over the last 2.5 years, I'm really looking forward to getting back to a phone with a removable battery and SD card slot.
As for the battery, I have been able to easily get through a day with the Sprint phone, even with a weak signal. On the Verizon one, I had almost a day and a half.

I'm upgrading from my old but tried and true Droid Bionic. Shes been good to me but I dropped it a few times recently and some apps started crashing. I was long overdue and had my upgrade at Verizon so I finally pulled the trigger and couldnt be happier! This is the first non-motorola phone I've owned in probably 7 years also.

Just moved from a Motorola RAZR MAXX. It was the best phone I have ever used due to battery life. When that went, then...... bubbye!
For the first 18 months I charged it every other night.
I like the S5 screen and camera. Haven't had it but two days so I haven't set it up to suit me yet. I have had it long enough to know the battery sux.

Welcome to the forum Harold and congrats on your new S5! Quite the step up from your BlackBerry I imagine. [emoji3] Enjoy!
