What speeds is everyone getting over 3g?

Forgive my cluelessness- but how the hell does mobilespeedtest.com get my phone speed by just going to the site and clicking??

Transfers data to and from the test server, measures how long said data takes to transfer.

It is a bit more involved than that, but that is basically what it does.

I was going to that site with my pc to find my cell speed. That's why I was confused as to how it was getting my phone speed. i realized it was getting my pc speed. Whata tool.

I used the phone to get to the site and got 855kbs d/l or something in my my house. Im betting its much better outside as I have reception probems inside the house

Using the Speedtest.net app in Coeur d'Alene, ID in a 4 story building.

A. Ping: 171ms - Download: 1224kbps - Upload: 750kbps
B. Ping: 172ms - Download: 1122kbps - Upload: 844kbps
C. Ping: 169ms - Download: 1422kbps - Upload: 774kbps

Pretty damn good if I say so myself! I love my Droid!

Speedtest.net tells me it needs the Flash Player 8 to run... How did you get that to work on a Droid, which has no Flash support?

Also, it would appear that MobileSpeetTest.com is down? I can't get it to come up at all... Just sits there, trying to load, but does nothing after several minutes... Other websites work just fine, so it's not my phone or web-browser... I guess I'll try MobileSpeedTest.com again later...

[EDIT2] Allrighty -- got some results using the SpeedTest.net app on my Droid. Ran three tests on 3G and three on WiFi.

Best 3G Speed: 1,191 kbps down; 511 kbps up; 124ms ping
Avg. 3G Speed: 880 kbps down; 398 kbps up; 130ms ping

Best Wi-Fi Speed: 7,831 kbps down; 1,018 up; 43ms ping
Avg. Wi-Fi Speed: 5,572 kbps down; 1,006 up; 66ms ping

All tests performed using Atlanta, GA server; 12.71 miles away.

im curious what speed you all are getting via the network not over wifi...

heres what im getting im in clearwater florida right now...

use Mobile Speed test and run the 1mb test for the best results.



this is not over WIFI if i did that it would be closer to 20,000 KBPS

Are you in a highly populated area? There could be more traffic on the network.

i wont say its to highly populated, i mean i live in the suburbs of west palm beach its not like miami or nyc. but u think that y but everyone else on here is breakin the 1000's even by l.a.x.. so im think my phone is bummed... what u think?

I doubt its the phone. I got 362kbps down, 504kbps up. 123 ms ping.

:shrug: this is coming from the blackhole in Rhode Island.
