IMy newest project. A pair of vintage Cerwin Vega RE25 speakers. Very nice heavy cabinets, nice drivers, and the classic foam surround rot. I'll have these done in 48 hours. I'll keep you posted on progress.
Check out the monster hex screws they used for these!
Who's been eating Peanuts? Is there a mouse in the house? Not MY house...fixing them for a customer.
Plastic ring on speaker front ring removed...cleaned up 1/4 way around.
Speaker front ring all cleaned up, on to the speaker.
Cleaned Aluminum works best so the glue adheres properly.
No more mouse in the house (or droppings - yuch).
Speaker basket is cleaned, now to clean up the cone.
Trimming the speaker cone is a delicate process. Isopropyl Alcohol its used to clean up the remaining residue.
Gotta wait for the Alcohol to dry/evaporate.
New surrounds, front and back.
Test fitting.
All dry and ready for gluing.
Glue applied to the cone.
Damn...using a new glue, its dark grey. Found out real quick that it stains the surrounds. Not my best work.
