When is LTE going live in your area?

LOL

comical

Its a beta release for LTE? No. Verizon doesn't need a Beta phone, they have plenty of testers on their own. In fact, knowing that the Bionic has been cancelled because 1, it can't handle the transition from LTE to CDMA and vice-versa, and 2, its supposedly superior dual core can't keep the software from running out of control and overheating the phone to the point where it breaks. But hey, the TBolt has been out for about a month and its biggest complaint is 'battery life sucks'. Transition from today's technology to tomorrows? Sure, if you are only looking at the fact it has one core. But that one core is a blazing fast 2nd gen Snapdragon that puts it on par with any phone out there, including the now-cancelled Bionic.

And if you want to look at a phone who's only selling point is the fact that its LTE, look no further than the Droid Charge, which will be the TBolt's only competitor for the foreseeable future.

Are u serious?
The only competition for the Thunderbolt is the EVO 4G which besides the slight increase in RAM and Lte its the same damn phone. Ill tell you some real competitors, the G2X and the EVO 3D. Zues needs to workout cause those phones blow the Thunderbolt out of the sky.

And they're on crap networks that can't hold Verizon's jock when it comes to LTE speeds.

And the Thunderbolt is a MASSIVE improvement from the EVO 4G. You're a fool for even thinking otherwise. More RAM, 2nd Gen processor, double the memory, far superior data network. I could go on and on.

If you are going to use your phone as a... well... as a phone, then there is no comparison. Verizon has the more reliable, faster network. The other devices you mention are good high end products stuck on an inferior line. Hey, your games will load faster. Whoopee. Just hope you don't have to actually call someone, or expect a text to go through.

I can't believe ur actually serious lol are u mad you bought a thunderbolt?

All u diehard thunderbolt fans are the same u start with the network is better and end with "I can go on an on" when in reality u can't. Btw you don't have double the ram of the evo, u have 250mb more. 2nd gen processor? Maybe, the 2nd generation processor that's been outdated for a while now. And the network? Congradulations your the first to be on 4G LTE. Your speeds will dwidle down (probably not to wiimax speeds but not 5 x faster like today) as more and more phones are apart of the network. Then what? you have a phone with last gen hardware and a network that use to be faster then your cable internet. The thunderbolt TODAY is a good phone, but not worth a 1yr 2yr agreement to sign for.

Any idea what apps? Wonder if Skype mobile, the official one Verizon wants us using, but the version that was downloadable working fine, even with sync.

Well thats an easy one... It's the new D1 with a bigger screen and faster processor and triple the ram. It's bootloader is unlocked now, and a lot of the big name dev's are working with it. I'd rather have some real ROM's on a single core, than some themes on a dual core.

Not to mention if they go tiered data, we are good to go.

A better question, why would you not?
Good response, but I can tell u
why not. Its not the the "new d1", its a filler for between last years Gen and next Gen that's only selling point is Lte. The hardware is generic for today, nothing special. Don't get me wrong its a good phone, but I can't get over the fact that the phone is basically a beta realease for the network just to see what are the problems and what needs tweaking for the next generation. The single core really made a blow to this phone, and the battery life is ridiculous.

And the sad thing is... line up the thunderbolt and the EVO 4g (which was released 8months earlier) besides the slight increase on RAM. They are identical as far as hardware goes.

LOL, why not get it even I dont have 4g service. Hmm lets see I will in sometime 2011 and it doesn't cost anymore than 3g service. Plus if they go with tiered (sp?) plans I'll be good to go.

I live in Grand Rapids MI and had 4G flash up on my phone for a few minutes last week. I heard this summer for the full launch in the area. I was in Detroit 3 weeks ago and the phone flew.

What's amazing is I grew up in UP of Michigan, and drive through Duluth to get to Dad's house in MN, and if I get 4 G in Dulth and here in Raleigh, NC, where living now, and we had like the first HD tv broadcast in country years ago and we don't have verizon 4G.still!......Yet sprint claims to have 4G but was told it's more like 3.2,I forget the name they say what sprint uses, wimax or something like that but says 4 G on their phone yet I can download faster w/ 3 G standing next to friend showing 4 G. wonder why this area has waited so long for 4G in such a high tech area. I mean damn we have NC State, UNC, Duke university, all this tech here and stuck with 3G? lol

I totally agree!! It is sad that Raleigh/Durham wants to be this big technology area but they don't have LTE yet. Hilton Head, Charlston WV, and Wilmington already have it. They have had the panels up on most of the towers for more than 6 months. Verizon put a new list of cities out a few weeks ago, and almost all of them already have LTE.

cool I'll test it out when I get up to the top of that the tallest rest area there in duluth when I get in town the end of may thanks

I Live about about 40 miles from both DC and Baltimore. Both have LTE. I wonder when it will expand far enough so I can get a consistent signal. It only works if I lay on my couch just right

THUNDERBOLTS HOOOOOOOOO!
