hello dbgoolsby - have you or anyone asked him about the battery life of the TB?

Yes ... to exhaustion. Please search my previous posts. He basically states that the battery is ok but that 4g is a hog. Stated at one point that it should last about 10 mins longer than the current Evo 4G user.

Just left msg with the Verizon manager I spoke to last week that was supposed to have a TB reserved for me today to replace my broken D1.. Glad I am also waiting for my free D1 replacement with fed-ex for when I get home to give me something to kill the week with..

thanks! there were so many posts to go through so I thought to just come out and ask. I do appreciate that you post his tweets.

battery life doesn't look too good for the thunderbolt. the incredible has better battery life, thank you 3g.

yeah... i'm going to stick with my incredible for a long time, i did just get it 2 months ago and dont want to be wasteful. i'm tired of getting phones at full retail or taking an upgrade from someone else. the incredible is awesome... lacking a 4.3 screen and a front facing camera but something will beat those 2 features 3 months later anyway. ::sigh::

i hope you guys get the thunderbolt this week!

Can't you choose to use 3G or 4G on the thunderbolt?
I am getting it, but I am not covered on 4G yet, so yeah...

i think i read that somewhere. if i remember correctly you can turn off the 4g and use 3g and then turn on the 4g if you want faster speeds. also there's going to be a htc extended battery for the phone available in april so if you get one of those, or 2, you would be ok.

i really want the thunderbolt but i can't bring myself to get it

Did an unintentional blurt reveal top secret info?

If you already have this info I apologize but here goes. Last Saturday (2/26-last day for pre-orders) I dropped by BB to pre-order the Bolt. I was beset by contradictions, misinformation and attitudes. I spoke to an MDO who was hopeless and clueless. While waiting (45') to speak to the manager I began to browse. A store flyer indicated that the TB price was 299.99! When I questioned the manager he said that Sunday (2/27) the TB would sell for 299.99 and the free trade in policy would end and the cost would be 59.99. Now this is the part that really got my attention. Pre-order buyers would have to pay 299.99 or the prevailing price at the time the TB appeared on the shelves - no rain checks! Now comes the kicker. The Mgr admitted that he was "..not a phone guy." so he referred me to his "...expert phone salesman." When I started railing about false advertising, fraud, etc. the phone guy blurted out that the delay wasn't BB's fault it was because VZ said that "...the batteries were blowing up!" Immediately, the salesman's face turned ashen - very difficult since he was AA.:) He obviously knew that he had committed a serious blunder. The manager stuttered something and walked away. I attempted to extract more info from the salesman but he and everyone else within earshot had developed a severe case of chronic lockjaw
Could that really be the *battery issue*? I use Lion batteries in my radio controlled aircraft and I know they can be dangerous (as in bursting into flames) if not handled and charged properly. I charge my batteries in a Corningware container or a large clay pot placed on a fireproof base and I *never* leave the charger on when I am not home. Remember the Sony laptop exploding batteries fiasco in 2006 when millions of laptops were recalled? Hmmm-

I think we have proven the BB has a somewhat questionable reputation with handing out information on this phone. Some local BB phone guy deflection the blame away from BB and onto Verizon or HTC so a customer doesn't yell at him/her....

I'm sure he didn't mean 'blowing up' in literal terms...probably just the battery draining fast which is what prompted the software fix. Software fix or not I don't expect much out of the TB battery or any other 4G handset for that matter. I already planned on buying an extra battery / USB cables even before hearing about this problem.

BB are selling multiple products for multiple carriers. All they know is probably enough to make a sell. They probably do not have the time to keep up with every phone news blog so the only thing they know is when they get the phones shipped to them they just make the sell.

Heck, for that matter you can't trust what anyone in the Verizon Wireless stores tell you either. They really don't know anything, even if they claim to. The only honest information I got from one associate last week was 'Verizon doesn't tell us anything until it happens. We don't know anything.'
