Why does my battery go down at night?

Charging from a wall outlet is much faster then charging from a computers usb port.....

that said you mentioned using dolphin? I know some people have mentioned that sometimes dolphin or other browsers that have gps on for local search sometimes seem to glitch out and the gps stays on after the browser is closed which is a pretty big battery drain.

or it could be as the other user pointed out, that you are dropping in and out of signal coverage and the phone is using power trying to keep the signal. do you have any connection issues at home? low signal, slow speeds...etc?

I'm thinking most likely since you say you charge only from your computers usb port is that your computer is going into sleep mode or turning off and once it's off it's not sending a charge into the phone at all.....

dunno

Totally agree with this statement. I have a friend that works in IT and he has told me that charging through your computer's USB is far from the best method of keeping any device properly charged. Use the charger as many have stated and stay away from aftermarket since there have been a few reports of quirks with them.

What concerns me is it ways 80% was voice calls... .sure someone is not using your phone after you go to bed?..... LOL!

As far as WiFi... someone could have changed your default settings and even when your not using it.. its still engaged.....

for fun, check wireless & networks---> Wi-Fi settings---->menu---> advanced----> Wi-fi sleep policy----> It should be on "when screen turns off by default".. if someone checked "never" it would be a drain all night....

but it sounds like someone is making calls based on what your battery usage says. "80% voice call usage?".... Maybe its the Devil! :icon_ devil:

Another thing you can do is put the phone in 'airplane mode' when you go to bed. (long press power button to access toggle)

This will help significantly with battery, as well as the added bonus of keeping any texts, calls, calls, tweets, or any other updates interrupt your beauty sleep. :)

Alarm clocks will still work. Some alarm clocks even have a built in airplane mode that turns all that stuff off while you sleep, and then back on when the alarm goes off.

I leave mine on the wall charger every night.... regardless what I have left for battery. Current battery technology prevents 'over charging'.

Still thinking about the 80% voice calls thing.
Another way you could get that reading is to either use your phone a lot yourself, or not charge the battery for a very long time and the total usage could be mostly voice calls.

However.. if you went to bed and it showed a much larger percentage than when you woke up and 80% of the usage was voice.. that makes me suspicious someone else is sneaking the phone.

I think he was looking at the usage at that given moment, not first thing in the morning.

You are exactly right. I had just made a few phone calls when I checked it. I checked later in the day and voice calls were around 30%, display was about 20% and there were a bunch of other things on there using 2-3%

I think it is dropping in and out of 3g at night. Phone reception is not very good in my bedroom so that makes since. I used my phone off and on today and it still has 80-90% charge on it.

Thank you for the reply. I will check the wi fi settings too.

I just checked it again, 27% voice calls, phone idle 27%, display 20% cell standby 18%

Do those sound about right?I haven't used my phone in over two hours

The dolphin browser will enable GPS on the default google search page if you leave it there (Which is the default start page).

When the GPS is on, you will see an antenna showing on the "top bar".

Also, the % for battery is since the last reboot, so if you rebooted it and made a 30 minute phone call, then checked it would say 80%. The key is to check when the problem happens.

I always go to "Menu -> More -> Exit" when I leave Dolphin so that the application exits when I am not using the browser.
