Why was my thread closed?

As big as this forum is, and as fast as it is growing, it amazes me that mods get attitudes with "that has been answered 100 times before". Maybe so... but coming from noob perspective, often I did not see it. Often I just learned something that I did not even know, that I did not know. Therefore I would have never searched for it and never learned from it, if someone else had not asked.

I have learned a lot here, but i have light years to go. If someone doesn't ask something that has been asked a 100 times before... how could I ever attempt to give back to the collective if never given the opportunity to answer that question?

Point well taken. I made a decision based on the topic. It wasn't because of a perceived attitude. Perhaps I should have explained myself better in the original thread. I did, however attempt to provide a link to help out the O.P. What I did was not based on ego or anything else. I can't encourage people enough to use the search feature though. It really does help find answers quickly without cluttering up the board.

You could have answered your own question by using the search function. Don't be so sensitive.

I am also going to close this thread before it gets out of hand. O.P. hope you got your answer. Perhaps I didn't explain it well enough in that thread my reasons. What this thread is turning into is another reason why I closed the other one.

Do the mods pm you when they close your threads? I've had threads moved and I got a pm. If not, i think sending them a pm with the reason it was closed, and possibly a link with where to go to start finding the answer to their question would clear up a lot of clutter and end some confusion.

I usually PM but in this case in the other thread I explained in the thread why I closed it and I did provide a link.
