So, with everyone saying they're clicking the "Check for Software Updates" button, isn't that pointless? Are they we going to do a soak first? Or are we skipping straight to the OTA?

I think people are just being weird. I think we wont realistically see an OTA until at LEAST a week from now...

Another satisified HOB customer here! Thanks for all your hard work Sam and Sarg. The only advice I can give for those of you using this, is to read, read, read, read, read and then when you know you understand it completely then read, read, read. on another note what is the best (easiest) way to overclock? I was hoping JB would bump my bionic to 1.2GHZ like the RAZR, but it doesn't seem to have done that.. any suggestions?

Even then, I remember back to the earlier Pentium days that Intel had some Pentiums that were better than others. The only way you could tell was to look carefully at some of the markings on them. Some were capable of being overclocked easily, while others not so much.

It is interesting that TI would get out of that market. It does seem a "hot" sector right now. We have what, NVIDIA, TI (bailing), Samsung, and now Intel. AMD seems to have really shot itself in the head missing out on this.

Don't remember the code but yeah, if you could get them to let you dig thru the box at your local comp store you could find the P2 or P2 pro that would FLY based on the imprint code

Precisely! That people don't realize that some processors of the same model/specification are better than others.

I've never worked in the semiconductor industry but my rudimentary understanding is this:
They always go to make the best of the best but during the manufacturing process variance is introduced. Flaws in the materials, manufacturing defects, and so on ensure that not all come out the same. When they get the the end of the line, they are tested and rated. Some get failed, some come out perfect, and a lot of them get sorted in between. The trick is having 1. a easily reproducible design that is powerful enough to fit the market's needs and 2. having the least amount of variance in the manufacturing process.

My uncle who worked 32 years in the auto industry would often tell me that the best of the best parts (closest to tolerance) went to the "luxury" line, the next closest went to the "upscale" line and the rest of the parts went to the "base" line.

But how come people on stock 905 are reaching the 1Ghz speeds when Gingerbread only uses 1 core? I'm not rooted and I'm on 905, but running benchmark tests yesterday I was clocking at 1Ghz. What's the difference going to be when we go from GB to ICS?

Hello this is my first post in this forum but I have been reading through it for the past few weeks. Today out of the blue me and my wife both received this msg ''FREE VZW Msg: To help u avoid ovgs during recovery efforts, a 1-time allownce of 200 mins was added to each line, valid for 12 mos or until used. Call *611 w/?s'' I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the ota update. Since I'm on the .244 leak I can't check to see. Anyone else receive this same msg or was it just us?

I believe it's not a part of the update, I think it's a part of your plan. I'm taking a guess that you don't have unlimited minutes, and that either this is your business phone or you've started getting closer to your limit on minutes. What I believe it says is that you and each of your lines (family phones or your business) have been given 200 minutes of free calling.

A quick search and I found that several posted receiving that message this morning.

We have plenty of minutes and we're grandfathered in to the unlimited data plan. So I don't think that would be it. Was just hoping that others had also received this msg.

Found it:
Verizon gave you 200 minutes out of kindness. It might be because you've been a loyal customer, you've been paying your bill on time, or something that made them feel you deserved it.
