Wireless tether?

I believe that just like in the OG there is a certain file that was removed in Custom roms that eliminates the Big Red block on tether.

If anyone is concerned with legal issues here... Apparently a formal complaint has already been filed with the FCC over Verizon's "illegal" restriction of use on 4G networks. When Verizon (and others) bought rights to claim the spectrum it came with limitations. One of those was a restriction to not impose limits on devices and applications that use the data on the user end. Read more here...

Droid life has a really sweet wifi tether apk that works flawlessly on the lte Nexus. My friends 4s hit its fastest speed ever piggybacking on my nexus. It was a high five moment.

(He's a huge iPhone fan boy, and after months of telling me how inferior the nexus is, after actually playing with mine he is ready to make the switch)

Android-wifi-tether just released a new alpha build that works on the galaxy nexus. It has worked really well for me on 4g and 3g. There are a couple bugs on the data measurement part, but it seems to work perfectly other than that. Download is here: Downloads - android-wifi-tether - Wireless Tether for Root Users - Google Project Hosting (not direct link, click on pre110 at the top of the list)

Edit: you do need to be rooted for android wifi tether to work

[h=1]Wifi Hotspot USB Tether - Free[/h]on android market does work on GNex and it is fast!!
Both wifi and wired tether!

Pete has wifi tether working as a standard internal setting on his latest nightly ... I'm using it!

Sorry for the confusion ken, Peter has a custom rom that does this easily... but you must be rooted to install it. It is unlikely, but not impossible that someone will get tether working unrooted without setting it up with VZW

There already is. Like I said. Elixir 2 widget let's you make a hotspot toggle widget that works not rooted.

I don't think so. Just because it checks the box doesn't mean it works. It bypasses the "Checking Subscription" message and checks it. You can connect to the phone, but there is no internet. At least that is how it worked for me.

I took several minutes for my internet access to show up. It had to recognize the network, then allow you to select (Home, Work, or Public), then it all connected.
The connection was very fast for me.

Yup, took a little while but I was able to tether my pc off my phone (unrooted, bone stock) with this widget. I got the same dl/ul speeds that I was getting on the phone via speedtest. This was my only reason to root and now I don't need to! I tether on rare occassions when we're on the road and the kids need the internet.
