Wow CNET not to keen on the GNex

Samsung Galaxy Nexus Review - Watch CNET's Video Review

Not the most glowing review to date. I can live with it.

Edit:
In all fairness I had not finished reading the story in it's entirety and just skimmed a lot. I think it was pretty much non objective and I may be becoming a bit of a fanboi? In any case I saw nothing I couldn't live with for a couple of years. C-Net normally has pretty good reviews in my experience.

Why can I just tell this reviewer has an Iphone in his pocket?

At one point he said he thinks it might "Break in half", really? you think the phone is going to break in half lol.

you can tell he obviously isnt much of an android fan. he never mentioned the good hardware, the great screen (he said it but never said how nice it really was) or any other really great features on it. he focused more on the fragility of it, which may or may not be true, but worst comes to worst a case could go on it.

Yeah, this was by far the harshest review I've seen. I can admit I'm a fanboy of this phone, but I can still be objective. Seems to me he was overly critical in some areas and nitpicking. Oh well, that's the beauty of reviews, this may be very helpful for someone with similar tastes in tech.

This was my favorite part:

Design
A few years ago, we used to joke that Nokia kept building the same phone design while slightly tweaking it for each subsequent model. These days, however, we're more likely to apply that jest to Samsung. Ever since the company started making Galaxy devices last year, many of them have looked a lot alike. Indeed, the Galaxy Nexus has much in common with its predecessors, especially last year's Nexus S (a Galaxy device if not by name).

So... did they forget to mention the Iphone's never changing design?

Obviously I'm biased, but come on, there's so many mistakes and obvious bias in this review it's nearly worthless to anyone.

That was obviously a turn of phrase and not what he actually felt.

I feel that that review was pretty fair. It got 4 stars, but I did feel the bias in his manner of speaking that he is not a fan of Android.

This is coming from someone who disliked the Nexus prior to release then wanted it after seeing reviews and then realized I liked the software more than the hardware.

Yeah if you read through it all he definitely highlights the good as much as the bad, but some of the bad does seem to have a "not an Android fan" bias to it... maybe that's good for the general public, but maybe not if it's based solely on comparing to the iPhone.

Cnet and that reviewer in particular are iOS fans. Public reviewers constantly criticize them on that. They do these head to battles between phones and not only does the iPhone always win, but wins by large margins, no matter the opposing phone, be it Windows, Blackberry or Android. I stopped reading Cnet a long time ago, along with BGR. The bias is pretty disgraceful. I'm not saying this becasue they're not giving the GNex a great review. Everyone has right to their opinion, but for me that site lost credibility a while ago.

I saw a video on youtube of a drop test between a samsung galaxy s2 and an apple iphone4 and the iphone4 got creamed. the iphone4 cracked at a lower height. and when they went to drop from the top of a persons head the s2 still didnt cracky. i dont know if its logical to equate something that is not heavy as lacking durability. i know holding something heavy has a psychological effect from picking up stones as a child, but plastic is a polymer that is built to be tough and light in weight.

What I found dumb about this review is if u compare it to the Razrs review. The rated the Nexus and Razr the same until it got to performance and gave the Razr a 9 to the Nexus's 8, wtf? They rated the Razr outstanding as to the Nexus as just excellent. I thank they need to open their eyes. I'm a Moto fanboy but I believe the Nexus edges the Razr in almost every catergory.

Without ICS, the phone is more or less just a phone, but with it you're looking at a sleek and powerful smartphone.

I think I disagreed with this the most. It has the first screen at this size with 720P, first with NFC capabilities, the camera obviously has nice hardware. I definitely wouldn't consider it "just a phone" without ICS, so what's the Razr and Rezound?

What's the Iphone without IOS? A good camera and an assistant app?

C-Net reviews suck, if it's not Crapple then it just a plain old phone. He didn't even look like he wanted to do the review. The more I see and hear about the GNex the more I want it. I'm a Moto guy and I really don't like Samsung phones but this phone is SO nice. ICS is just the icing on the cake. I'd love this phone even if it had pure GB on it. C'Mon Big Red...

Exactly, youd think a heavier phone would hit the ground with more force. Plastic is fine with me, and especially the videos ive seen showing how strong and flexible the back cover is. When i drop my og droid it dents and looks like hell, thats metal for ya.
