Wow CNET not to keen on the GNex

C-Net reviews suck, if it's not Crapple then it just a plain old phone. He didn't even look like he wanted to do the review. The more I see and hear about the GNex the more I want it. I'm a Moto guy and I really don't like Samsung phones but this phone is SO nice. ICS is just the icing on the cake. I'd love this phone even if it had pure GB on it. C'Mon Big Red...

U said it to the T... im a moto guy as well and not to big on sammy either but this phone is where its at...

Talk is cheap, I'll be the judge when I get mine. Not to mention the reviewer contradicted themselves with their ratings.

What I found dumb about this review is if u compare it to the Razrs review. The rated the Nexus and Razr the same until it got to performance and gave the Razr a 9 to the Nexus's 8, wtf? They rated the Razr outstanding as to the Nexus as just excellent. I thank they need to open their eyes. I'm a Moto fanboy but I believe the Nexus edges the Razr in almost every catergory.

The razr review was done by a different person. That's why.

I don't really get what all the fuss is about. Since when is excellent bad?

As for the Nexus edging out the razr I don't see it. They're both good phones and I doubt one overshadows the other.

Cnet and that reviewer in particular are iOS fans. Public reviewers constantly criticize them on that. They do these head to battles between phones and not only does the iPhone always win, but wins by large margins, no matter the opposing phone, be it Windows, Blackberry or Android. I stopped reading Cnet a long time ago, along with BGR. The bias is pretty disgraceful. I'm not saying this becasue they're not giving the GNex a great review. Everyone has right to their opinion, but for me that site lost credibility a while ago.

THIS. CNet has always been HUGELY biased toward Apple/iOS

He probably wrote the article on his iPhone with the help of siri

Incremental, does it really make you feel that good to bash Razr on every Android forum, despite of you being a self-proclaimed Moto fanboy? Just a strange strategy.
I had Droid 1 since first release days, ROMed the crap out of it. Went to Droid X with it's locked bootloader, ROMed the crap out of it. You'll be amazed at what development can be done even with the locked bootloader. At this point in the game, when the phones are virtually lag-free, why would you need to OC? With Droid 1, we all OCed and lowered voltage to get the speed up the phone while saving the battery. Currently, my non-rooted (until SBF file is posted) RAZR is completely lag-free with over 80% battery life remaining after 6 hours of light-moderate use. Yes, 4G active. Benefits of Motorola Smart Actions baked into the OS.
I believe while the CNETs review has iOS fanboy undertones, it does highlight a few simple conclusions. Motorola build is just better than Samsung. I don't think anyone would deny that. Same for the radios. Yes, I agree, Samsung will have better camera, better screen, better processor, and ICS. But I think what CNET was stating is that ICS is a freshly baked OS. It will have minor bugs which will be fixed with updates. Correct me if I'm wrong, but the ICS source file is massive, lots of new baked goodies built in. Gingerbread is a familiar system and it appears that Motorola (after many tries, including the Bionic) has finally hit on the winning combination of Blur and GB. My Razr has been completely lag- and freeze-free. When I bought the Razr, I was going to "rent" it just as many others. Just in 5 days, as my daily driver, it has won me over with it's ergonomics, looks, operation, and battery life. I can wait for ICS, either as an update or as a ROM. In fact, I'm relishing the thought that if the ICS update gets screwed up by Motorola or Verizon, I'll be always be able to SBF back to error-free GB stock ROM. I think once people would get past the WORDS "Blur" and "locked bootloader", they would actually see what engineering feat the Motorola team has accomplished both in hardware and software.
But,.. to each their own. I'm certainly not going to bash Rezound or GNex as a part of my agenda.

I kind of agree about Cnet, they've gone a bit "corporate" and so their reviews just aren't trustworthy anymore because you don't know who's giving them money behind the scenes.

A lot of review sites like Gizmodo Cnet ect..., they know if they bash on the Iphone or Moto or Samsung, they won't get review units later on. I remember when Gizmodo in the earlier days bashed on the Iphone 3g I believe and Apple completely cut them off from everything, including early access and to their tech shows. So I find that you get the most useful information from tech blogs when they're young and don't know any better, you find people who care about the improvement of technology and not their bank account. Now obviously you can't knock Cnet or any of these other big tech sites because we'd all do the same thing if it meant our livelihood, so I just take each review as a small part of dozens that I read for each device.

I'm not saying "don't ever trust Cnet", as I've used many of their TV reviews in the past to make a purchase, just that I believe some people aren't familiar with what goes on behind the scenes of these tech sites and it can hurt their decision on what's best for them personally.

Generally, it's good to hear negative reviews about what one considers the Jesus phone, but it's not really fair to bash the Galaxy Nexus during pre-release because hardly any apps have been optimized for Android 4.0; something that's sure to leave a sour taste in the mouth of a person who hasn't lived through every version of Android since Android 1.0.

This was my favorite part:

So... did they forget to mention the Iphone's never changing design?

Obviously I'm biased, but come on, there's so many mistakes and obvious bias in this review it's nearly worthless to anyone.
I'm not one to chime in on these anymore but really? Is the Galaxy Nexus supposed to be completely different in look from Samsung's other phones? The Nexus one is clearly an HTC phone so I don't get why this guy is making the design such a big issue.

Do you mean review sites could be taking incentives from manufactures to sort of...errr ...tip the scales? Surely this can't be happening.

Lol. Cnet has to make money too. Apparently people accidentally clicking on their ads isn't cutting it for them.

Well in all fairness, I'm sure companies are paying CNET to run their ads there. It's not like CNET is running Adsense ads where all income is dependent on clicks haha.

As for the review, i think it was fair and objective. People are just getting upset because they didn't worship the device and label it God's gift to smartphones, but come on they gave it 4/5 stars and an "excellent" rating. Sounds like no one would have a problem with CNET if they had given it a 5/5...

Really, I'm getting tired of the "Moto has the best build quality and radio" thing. That may have been the case years ago, and with the OG Droid, but not anymore. I have noticed that my mom's LG Ally gets better signal than my X and it also has been beat to hell and doesn't show it. My X has the buttons practically falling off.

So to all those people who say Moto has the best build quality and radios over everybody else today, you're a fanboy high on Moto's Kool-Aid
