Sorry to double post, but it looks like I can't edit. My Refurbed Droid looks to be in good shape except the camera seems to be inferior :| I still have my old Droid next to me and the new Droid's camera has a lot more lines due to the light or whatever coming in.
I read this thread out of curiosity.
I have a 12 month old Droid 1 that originally came with 2.0 and has has been stellar (knock-on-wood). The gold is worn off the camera button, some paint around the screen edge is gone. I carry it in my pants pocket most of the time with a Steinheil Crystal screen protector on it since new.
It has been dropped its share of times. Rooted and then unrooted. 2.1 was OTA but the rest were forced and the FRG22 is butter smooth.
A few days ago I had my D1 in my lap in the car, I hopped up to get someones attention and to my horror I looked down and there was my Droid with a shattered screen on the ground. So I called and was told they were on backorder and was offered 3 lesser models including the newer Ally, but I of course passed. I was told it was on backorder for at least a week, but then that night I was told it shipped.
The next day my Droid arrived and everything seemed good, I was a little sad cause the keyboard was not the same as my launch day droid (My original D1 has a bubbled up keyboard so the keys are really easy to type on) and is flat like everyone else's so I have to learn to reuse the darn thing. When I got in my car and put it in the car dock and made a call, I found the headphone jack was completely broken. It moves around in the socket. U can almost pop it right out of the phone. It drops the call, makes popping noises, and stops working when it wants. (Doesn't Asurion have a 150 point inspection? )
So now I'm still waiting on another Droid to come on Backorder... This time I was not notified the next night... Its been 2 days now... This is the 2nd time I've been sent a replacement Droid from them. Last time (About 5 months ago) I opted to keep my original because the keyboard was missing half of the delete key... (150 point inspection right?)
i had the same problems like all you guys, my screen would freeze up, i didn't have 3g ,and it drop calls, so i kept calling and every time i talk to someone i ask for the supervisor and tell them my problems, but this last time i talk to the tech support supervisor, they sent me out a brand new d2, you just have to keep calling and tell your problems to different people cause the right person will help you like they did me. The proof is in the pudding

I got my replacement phone on Thursday and it's horrible. This is my 4th or 5th replacement. I keep getting dropped calls and the sensor seems like it's off. When the phone is against my face, the phone stays lit and I always end up pushing the speaker button, the mute button, or the end button. I'm seriously getting tired of these replacements.
just got my droid 1 WARRANTY replacement...was expecting a DROID1 but when i opened the box, DROID2 was looking at me =]...im used to the keyboard layout on d1 but it just takes some getting used to the new layout. it came with a letter saying that they apologize for the delay of my d1 replacement but i didnt even wait long...
Only thing wrong with my original droid 1 was a cracked d-pad, and on occasion i would get multiple letters with one keystroke on the physical keyboard. Went to verizon on Thursday, and they sent me a warranty replacement; but to my surprise they sent a Droid 2!!!! On my first warranty replacement! I AM PUMPED!
Sounds like everyone is getting a Droid2 today... I just sent my wife an email to see if thats what came in my package today... If so I may have to go home early to play with my new toy... haha... I'll keep everyone posted, this may be a company wide thing...
Wonderful . :\ Am I the ONLY one not happy that the D2's replacing the D1's?!
I may have to call VZW again. I'm not going to end up with a phone that has a LOCKED bootloader!

what do you plan on telling VZ? you dont want a free upgrade because you want to root it? you will have to say goodbye to any chance of a future replacement...
