I may have to call VZW again. I'm not going to end up with a phone that has a LOCKED bootloader!

what do you plan on telling VZ? you dont want a free upgrade because you want to root it? you will have to say goodbye to any chance of a future replacement...

I did talk about the bootloader to one VZW rep the first time. But he had no idea. I didn't tell any other reps of this though. Besides I told the rep some of the truth. My WiFi is acting up. Even when I got the Froyo 2.2 OTA update I'm still having the issue. Ofcourse I'm running a custom rom. But I've tried the OFFICAL 2.1 (unrooted) and 2.2 offical. ALL have had issues.

Meh, i'm getting the fascinate . The D2 is too bulky and the screen sucks compared to the fascinate. Plus the hummingbird processor is a little better than the OMAP (Or alot?)

Well....I gotta a replacement droid bout a month ago. It started messing up so I called for another replacement last week. Verizon told me that my D1 was on backorder and instead of 2 day delivery it'll be 5 days. Didn't think nothing of it until today when I opened the box. SURPRISE DROID 2! And a letter that says we're sorry for any inconvenience so here's your new phone. Thanks Verizon

So, i got a refrubished phone replacement last week, that had a loose screen, so I called up and told them. That would have been my 4th phone. When I talked to them, they said that they didnt have any in stock, but it would ship out this coming Tuesday. I got a tracking number last night, and this morning, I came home from work to find that they sent me a brand new Droid 2 with a letter of apology for the inconvenience...pretty sweet.

If the D2 had a unlocked bootloader I'd jump on it right away.

I called in for another replacement yesterday evening and it should get here tomorrow. Hopefully it is the D2!

I called Verizon today to complain about how my phone has been running since the 2.2 update- they offered me either an Ally or a Devour. I told them I would not accept an inferior phone and requested to speak to the supervisor. After about 10 minutes of being on hold the Verizon rep returned and offered me a brand new Droid2 as a replacement.

I'm not the biggest fan of the Droid 2, but it's a lot better than the other two options! Plus I could care less about rooting, so it doesn't matter much to me that it's a locked phone.

I guess true. If i were in your situation. I'd rather have a D2 with a locked bootloader than a Ally or (even worse) Devour.

I just got a new D2 as a warranty replacement which is funny because just 2 days I was told by the rep that they would keep sending me certified replacements "Untill the cows come home". Then a brand new droid shows up at my house

Well the D1 they sent me last week turned out to be a POS, so I called in, and they're still sending me another D1. Guess they have stock out here. :shrug:

They told me they were going to be sending out a D1 also. When it got here, it turned out to be a brand new D2.

I have my fingers crossed, I don't really need much other than Wifi Tether & Drocap2, I wonder if the D2 can do those things.
