Your Warranty Replacement just might be a Droid 2 / Incredible

Lol????? Hows that bs??? The D2 is a MUCH better phone than the Droid eris. I'd happily take the D2 for 60$ if i had the eris. Be happy they offered you an Lg ally.

i jsut called them, and they said they can only send out devours or eris, Nothing Else....

I have DX on the way got my tracking number on Friday. No contract extension either. I had my OG Droid replaced under mfg warranty. Even after doing the FRG22D update I still am having software issues with not seeing who is calling me, along with still not having a data connection.

How did you get them to send you a DX vs a D2?

When I called tech support for the 5th time in 4 days of receiving the FRG01B FROYO update I had been having issues. I told him I was not going to accept another sub pair CLNR. I told I would like to explore my option for upgrading without effecting my current contract. Hesaid he would credit my account for the cost of the OG Droid and he would have DX shipped out as soon as stock was available.

finally after a week of arguing with verizon about my referb D1s, ill be getting a CLCR of a droid 2 by thursday, anyone have any input about a CR droid 2?? he said they are practically brand new without any issues of D1

Sweet merciful crap, what are you people saying to get through to these vz people? I've spoken to countless folks gone through 2 "certified" replacements (I know thats not a lot for some folks, but its my limit) and have an email thread going with customer service that is eroding my patience. They don't seem to be budging at all. They're sending out crap replacement phones and I want no part of them.

Squid: Trust me, it's not as easy as i thought it would be. I followed in the boyfriends footsteps at trying to get a D2 and then it just became a stubborn game for me..

I went to the VZ Store on Thursday, with "Signal problems", they gave me nothing but a hard time about getting a replacement, saying there is nothing wrong with my phone bla bla bla.. then after storming out (which he put in my notes on the computer) i went to the other verizon store nearby where the nice guy told me he would send me a replacement that wasn't a refurb, and if i got a refurb then to let him know..well long and behold i got my shipment today of a refurb D1. I called the store and told the manager that I was told I wouldn't get a referb.. he responded that I wouldn't be able to get anything other than a D1 referb and its strictly from the manufacturer. Whatever, I hung up with him and called 611 from my phone. :icon_evil:

I spoke to 7 different reps before finding one that would listen. When he asked me what he could help me with, I asked him for his opinion on which I should switch to, AT&T or Sprint. Right away, he knew i was pissed.. I told him that i spoke to countless reps about crappy referbs and that if they sent me another D1 referb then I would call back and cancel my contract with them. I told him that I have been a verizon customer for 11 years (truth) and had countless phones and data packages that I have spent LOTS of money on. He immediately put me on hold, and after 10 minutes got back to me apologizing and finally told me me what other options I had..
He asked me what phone I wanted, and I told him something just like the D1 (and acted like a dumb girl who had no idea what I was talking about) and he told me he could send me a D2...FINALLY!

So, conclusion is that it's not easy, but all you have to do is stand strong and threatening to cancel your contract if you don't get what you want. It worked for me, but i dont make any guarantees for anyone else..

Folks, I want to remind everyone that discussing how to 'get Verizon' to upgrade your phone to another model just because you want what's newer is considered Fraud.

We can't, and don't condone that here.

You're reading a different discussion. I had a legitimate issue that was deemed to warrant a replacement phone. The replacement phones they've sent me have been crap. I'm getting fed up with it, particularly the substandard customer service I've gotten along the way. A number of people got upgrades for free without asking. A number of other people got upgrades for free by asking. This proves that verizon is,at worst, ambivalent to the idea of sending out a newer phone as a replacement for a perpetually malfunctioning older model.

So i'm getting my replacement tomorrow. I was told that what i'm getting will be a new phone. So probably will be a D2. If not, oh well.

Agreed. The problem I have is that these CLNR's are like ticking time bombs. Some are bad right away, some are bad in a month or two. So what happens when I get a replacement shortly before my warranty ends (plus the 90 extra days added,\) and it goes bad? I'm stuck with a defective phone and either have to buy a new one at full price, tack another 2 years onto my contract and get it at a discount, or risk buying second hand. Not to mention the defective phone now has no resale value.

Agreed. Personally I DON'T WANT a Droid 2 or DX. I just want a D1 as most here posting in this thread thing. Getting another model by "chance" is one thing. But Most of the posts I've seen are simply warning what VZW might try to swap you to another model (upgrade or downgrade) whether you want it or not. That's how I read it at least.
