Your Warranty Replacement just might be a Droid 2 / Incredible

I finally got a D2 coming to me!! It wasn't easy though. I'm on my 5th D1 now and I had to hassle them and speak with a supervisor for nearly an hour before they finally gave in. Now, I'm not trying to con my way into an upgrade...these D1s have really been subpar. My first one worked fine for months. I rooted for a while and the thing started getting kinda sketchy. So I unrooted but that didn't help. That's where I began the Warranty exchange ordeal. 2nd droids wifi didn't work, 3rd had bad lag issues as did the 4th. And this one came out of the box with a different color menu button and the notification light displays through the bezel. The touch screen has been iffy too. I missed two calls in the last couple days because the touch screen wouldn't respond when I tried to answer. They REALLY need to get their s*** together at the refurb factory...its like they don't even check the phones after. I mean, a miscolored menu button?.... how do you miss that!? Hopefully this D2 wont have any issues. Oh and every D1 I had has that weird music issue. When u plug in headphones it shuffles through random music automatically and cannot be overridden...very annoying, can't even use the player at all unless its on speaker. I sure hope they fixed that on D2s. Oh and there was no mention of an incredible either...only offered a D2.

Sounds like the droid 1 is at the end of it's lifespan. At least that's what the tech that replaced my droid 1 said. I finally got a droid 2, and I'm loving it so far.gotta love swype

I recently had some problems with my Droid, I finally called up Customer Service and we did some troubleshooting. It fixed one problem but they know the other isnt really fixed. The keypad is coming loose, thats just something Ill have to either deal with or replace it. They know that. The very nice lady gave me her Email just in case I have any other problems but she reiterated more than once that they will send me a refurbished Droid 1. It might be the one with the raised keyboard, the newer version, but its still a Droid 1 and still a refurb. I passed on the offer because I cant stand refurbs. Maybe if they tell me theyll give me a new Droid 2 Ill replace it.

It seems that if I get a bunch of refurbs and keep having problems I might be able to get a Droid 2, Im not sure. I just dont think Im willing to go through all that and all the time setting up each and every Droid hoping itll work right for it to mess up on me again when I can just stick with my original. While its true that I might get a good refurb Im not counting on it. Ive never done good with refurbs and I cant stand them. I told the nice lady that and she asked if Ive ever used certified ones. Oddly the one I had that gave me so much trouble that completely turned me off refurbs was certified. It was a certified used game system many years ago but even so I learned my lesson then and never want to bother with any again. That did not deter her, I would still get a refurb. Knowing that I decided to not bother with it and stick with my Droid.

Geesh, I have great luck with refurbishes although none of them Droids. I would have to change all my power cradles out if i went to a D2.

I would just do it and after a couple I'm sure you would get a new one if you ranted just right.

I've been through 4 refurb Droid 1s at this point... my original droid was great except for some headphones static but it started rebooting randomly then it needed to go, I'm now on my 4th refurb 5 total... As soon as this one starts messing up (they all did 2-3 weeks afterwards) I'm raising absolute hell I'm tired of Motorola CRAP!

Is this a DROID haters thread?

All this makes me feel lucky. I have my original since 9/09 and use it pretty hard. As a private investigator I don't know how I would get by without the little work horse.
I carry the thing in my pocket with no case and only have a high quality screen laminate on it.
I took a chance and accepted the Soak beta invite for this last build and got a scare with my BT ear buds but all is well now and a tad better. As a work tool I'll have to pass on the next invite.

Not that it applies to the OP but all these rooters who complain, heh! You rooted for it. The return on investment for rooting is pretty sad and highly over rated and about as risky as you can get just to be able to say "I'm rooted".

I map, navigate, email, gmail, bluetooth, tether, text, speakerphone, just fine on the stock phone without wanting for anything.

Loving My Droid!!!!!!!!

Was supposed to be sent a D2 in place of my 5th D1 but instead received yet another CLNR D1 .. Now I have to wait until Tuesday for the new replacement... so much for a slightly early Christmas present to me.

Called in less than a week ago, one previous complaint where i left my phone bake in the sun and the tack of the keys came off. This speaker was getting worse and worse. Didnt even ASK if i wanted a 1 they just said i was getting a 2

Thats the problem with cpo's. I recently talked to a Verizon rep and they said they get scolded by their superiors for being leniant on sending out replacement phones. Why? Appearantly the refurb center complained they were getting too many undefective phones in. What a joke those damn liars. I agree that getting a cpo like new device that actually works and looks "like new" is rare with Verizon phones. Ive gotten my fair share of 'em.... So I'm content with and fortunate to have my new Droid Incredible- went through enough Droid X's that they sent me a new Dinc and refunded me, so free and new! You just have to get lucky- some reps think they know everything and won't send a replacement unless you do something that takes a day, like going into a local store for a software update. Seems like customer support stalls a lot when you want a defective device replaced...... So with that I say good luck to all who want a Verizon phone replaced.
