ZapX RC2 Rom Release

Fantastic!

My first installation. Followed the instructions and went without a hitch!
Thanks.

Now, is there a way to install a different contact/address book which will show contacts ordered by last name and work witl Outlook/Exchange? :icon_eek:

This is why I suggest syncing your contacts with gmail. Motorola still is horrible with Exchange. However, it works correctly as for the contacts syncing it depends how you set it up on your network if you are syncing between a network each time you view those contacts the are being pushed to you. If you are using a personal computer it works like an address book. You can't change the last names first, however you can menu search and then enter last name or the first few letters.

Thanks. No, this is a work phone, and it primarily syncs with the company Exchange and Outlook, and I need to access the company's address book as well...

I'll look into it, I have about 1000 + names, so the first name option is problematic, even with the searching.... it would have to update the Google address on the fly whenever a change is made in Outlook.....

I will look into it but the only option ive ever had onthe x is first name first maybe in the market

There are some workarounds in the Market. Better Contacts is one of them, but what bothers me is that there ARE other devices that are also on FroYo in which one could chose whether first name or last name. Apparently it is the case with the Droid (Droid 1)...in another words, FroYo includes it, why it was disabled is beyond me....:icon_evil:

P.S.
I see that we got rid of Visual Voicemail...any recommended substitutes?

ok. coming from fisson test 5. downloaded this rom and followed the instructions to the letter. after reboot, phone has been sitting at the droid eye for about 15 min now. is this normal?

Had to reset to factory defaults and reinstall. Works great. Using launcher pro. No lag or fc's. Great rom. I can report hdmi is working great.

A little help here?

I change roms on my Droid 1 more often than I change socks, but my wife's Droid X is another animal altogether. It's still running 2.1-update-1, and is rooted. Rom Manager is installed. The official 2.2 (2.3?) is threatening to install itself, but thankfully has failed every time. Tell me please (or update the first post with a link) to a working 2.2 that one could use as a springboard to much better roms. I have not found one that works yet. (I just thank god I have a good SBF file or my wife would *KILL* me if I brick her baby.) I'd just let her Droid X go the stock/unrooted route, but she wants to use USB tethering, and I don't want to pay for it.

Thanks

Update: I found the full 2.3.15 "the_gift2" SBF. That updated the phone OK. Then the wife hit the brakes on re-rooting. I'm not allowed to touch it again, she'll just tether to my Droid 1 when she wants to. <sigh>

My swype doesn't work. Is anyone else having the same problem.

As I have said before swype I having a problem because it is not recognizing languages. I am working on another fix however it has been excluded from this rom per Swypes request. I am still working on a proper update fix though.

Hello, I must say I am very intrigued by your ROM; seems like it has everything I want and nothing I don't...

Except for the Swype issue, for me that is a deal breaker (and I bet I am not the only one). Is there any way you can provide an ETA for the 'fix'?

Not trying to bother you; but as soon as the Swype fix is in, ZapX will be on my DX.

Thanks for all your efforts :)
