Hello,
Even I have problem as I mentioned before. I am not able to perform RUU to get Froyo from GB. I did same as you mentioned that I installed HTC Sync and then ran RUU but I am getting Error 140 Bootloader version error. Just to make sure My Hboot shows I am as S-On. Does this make sense not to do stock.

Thanks
Vinod

Try this link from Ladios Changing phone image version - to solve 140 bootloader version error for hTC RUU - xda-developers this should help you with the error 140 so you can flash the stock RUU back on your phone.

First you are going to want to download the RUU file from here...... http://dougpiston.com/files/RUU/RUU...4k_NV_1.70_PRL58006_release_152016_signed.exe
after you download this go to the HTC site and download the latest version of HTC sync this is what will help you un-root your Dinc.
Make sure you install HTC Sync and then run the RUU file it will recognize your phone then just follow the on screen instructions and you will have a factory fresh un-rooted phone.
I used this when I first rooted my phone because it was stuck in a boot-loop and I couldn't or at that time did not know how to fix it so this worked when my phone was UN-accessible so it should work for you since yours at least turns on.
Hope this helps you.

I did as follows and HTC Sync doesnt reconize or pick up my phone when connected to the computer. I can go in through My Computer and get into my phone. I also downloaded the other and it didnt reconize it either.

these are the steps I took when i un-rooted my phone.
1.Download HTC sync
2.Download RUU file.
3.Turn phone on and make sure that HTC sync is not on,it just needs to be installed on your PC.
4.Run the RUU file and follow instructions, if you already tried this procedure you may have a phone that needs to have the pb31IMG reflashed to S-ON if that's the case take a look at this thread by DougPiston

This had probably been answered before, but is it possible to downgrade the Dinc to Froyo 2.2 from Gingerbread 2.3.4 so that it can be rooted? I know it is possible to regain root with S-OFF, but I still have S-ON.

I got my rooted Incredible back to s-on. My issue is that I cannot seem to get it back to stock. This is what I have loaded on my phone:
version 2.2
Baseband 2.15.00.07.28
Kernel 2.6.32.17
Build Incredibly Re-Engineered v2.30
Software number 3.70.651.1

Any help would be great. Thanks!

Hey Thanks. For the life of me I could not figure that out. Even took me awhile until I finally found where you were referring me to.
Thanks again

Ota update

after i do s on and install the ruu, would i be able to receive the official OTA updates???

I made a post a few weeks back suggesting not to unroot the Incredible by using the downgrade video but with some recent posts I have noticed some did not read it.

With the new Slcd's out if you downgrade to 2.1 to unroot you will be left with a black screen and a device rendered less then usable.

This post will show the correct way to unroot the device. It is already posted on AF, XDA, my blog and on Incredileforums.com. No excuses of "I didn't see it"

How to Unroot Correctly

PB31IMG Method

First step is to get s-on. Download this file and flash through clockwork recovery.(Note s-on does not work on radio 2.15.00.09.01. If you have radio 2.15.00.09.01 please flash this http://dougpiston.com/files/Radios/PB31IMG-radio-2.15.00.07.28.ziphttp://static.droidnetwork.net/dpiston/Radios/PB31IMG-radio-2.15.00.07.28.zip through Hboot first.)
http://dougpiston.com/files/S-on/unrevoked-forever-son.ziphttp://static.droidnetwork.net/dpiston/S-on/unrevoked-forever-son.zip

Now that you have s-on you can now flash the 2.2 RUU with Hboot. To do this you must have your sd formatted to FAT32. Place the file below on the root of your sd card after you renamed it to PB31IMG. (Root means not in any folders) Then boot into hboot. To boot into Hboot power off the device and reboot it while pressing the vol- and the power at the same time. The phone will then look for the file and ask if you would like to accept it. Select yes and then leave the phone alone until it asks you if you would like to reboot. Select yes and enjoy you stock phone.

RUU Method

If you are having troubles getting it to flash through hboot you can also do the RUU. You'll need the newest version of HTC sync though. It can be found here: HTC Mobile Phone Support - DROID INCREDIBLE by HTC (Verizon) - Downloads

Once that is installed you can download and run this RUU:

Can anyone please help me? I need to unroot my phone but nothing seems to work. All I did was simply root it to tether one time. Now I need to take my phone back to verizon. I don't know TOO much about this stuff. I did try to follow the instructions and drag the file, vol - and power, but then it says image not found and gives me options to
Fastboot
Recovery.... etc.. and I have to choose one of those.. Someone please help! THank you!!

I do know when I look at properties It is on FAT32. And I am on 2.2 as well.

Have you tried using an RUU file to get back to complete stock ? also if you have HTC sync on your PC it needs to be un-installed to run an RUU file. If you haven't tried the RUU PM me and i'll send you one that I have that I use to get Incredibles back to stock.

EDIT: I was wrong about the HTC sync it does need to be on your PC but it needs to be disabled while you run the RUU.Also you can use the HTC super tool to un-root your phone.

Thanks for replying.. I saw where you could do RUU but HTC Sync won't work. My device never shows up. I downloaded it yesterday with no luck.
