1.1.1 Sapphire Release and an Anoucement

Need some help. Street View won't install from the market. Keep getting installation failed. Anyone got this to install ok on 1.1.1? Would appreciate any thoughts on this one.

Kewl LT,
Found the link to the gapps 1.1.1...

So I'll flash the update and gapps with a cache wipe, see how that works, then get black bar back on. :)

Good times :)

AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH .....

Back to black bar ..... Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh. :)

Well, cache wipe, lash, reflash gapps, then boot to check operation, then reboot and flash black bar... I'm good. Ahhhhh. Hey, did I sat AHHHHHHHHH? :)

Market seemed to open faster than on 1.1.0, but will evaluate.

Maps 4.5 was available and installed no problem. For those who posted about the login failed (for latitude) at that point you can check your notification bar to allow maps access to your google acc, that should end that issue. I don't use latitude yet...

Also they made changes in maps, so if like me you had the layers and my location "button" added thru labs, they are gone, you now have a bar at the top which holds those, along with a search area and a places button.

Personally, I'd like that to go away, the Droid screen is small as it is, would rather have more map view on it, but I can live with it, we all know they change out a lot of features on maps, just email them or leave comments in the market...

I do not have the google search button issue, as I didn't wipe data, so my moved file is in the proper place in /system ...

So far everything is running smoothly.

Like a few others I'd just be curious if anyone could say what the supposed camera improvement was for this build. :)

Good to go and looks like it was painless!

I got a notification that there is an update to sapphire. I do not want to update. I can not get rid of the update. So I D/L it then went back to 1.1.0. The update comes back again. How do I get rid of it. I love Sapphire and would hate to go else where.

How can I get rid of the notification?

Uninstall Rom Manager (I assume if your getting the update notification then your running it). Or flash alternative recovery. Or go into Rom Manager settings and uncheck Update Notifications.

No google maps with gapps?

After installing google maps from market, it won't login. It (google maps) prompts for a new gmail account but won't work with the gmail account I used after installing gapps. Any ideas?

cowdog, look for a notification icon (exclamation usually depending on theme). Open that notification and it will be a security prompt asking you for permissions to associate your existing gmail account to the app. After giving the permission, you should be good to go.

Two things. where is the google app for this version? And I liked the download sent to my Droid. Unfortunately, once I downloaded both the ROM and the google apps, it hung up in the reboot. I had to go back to 1.0.

Thanks.

Jim

I just installed 1.1 the other day coming from another developer..i think i have tried them all..this one is very snappy and i do like it..so far i havent came across any problems and i was able to update google maps last night with no problem installing it from the market...i first flashed to stock rooted before i did this one then wiped...i read that the developer got and dx..i am glad but i hope this doesnt mean u are leaving the droid because your work is very good, everything flows together rather nicely, so i just want to say thank u for all your hard work..........

I just installed this right on top of 1.1 without a wipe, and its looking good!

Edit: Scratch that, search button no longer works.

1. Install Google Search from the market.
2. Type the following into a terminal emulator or use adb shell on your PC

su
sysrw
cp /data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1.apk /system/app/GoogleQuickSearchBox.apk
rm /data/app/com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox-1.apk
sysro
reboot

one line instead of two :)

Negative. We had the mv in there originally and it no workie. It has to be copied. plaidman told us why in one of his posts but I don't remember. Something about going across partitions or something. In any case, the cp has to be used.

I don't have Google search, Google maps, market. My sense is that there still are bugs in 1.1.1?

I don't want to have to use the emulator for anything.

I am going to go back to 1.0.

When do you think all the bugs will be removed?

No reason why it shouldn't, but OK. I went with a soft link myself.
