he's proably just tried the app if you tried it you would see he's right you can even find it on there site about chinese only..

come on man thats not something im missing from my rom, i thought you meant i left something out from the last release :dry:
anyways:
phone/dialer works no f/c
sms/mms no fc --tested both
theming works
and added new music app back
EDIT: this will be a wipe update

News/Weather: I like having this app because (it appears) that Fancy Widget pulls its weather forecasts from the weather service it installs. Unfortunately, installing the APK for this app from the web results in it crashing repeatedly (please note, this is the official Google "Genie" News and Weather app I am discussing). I really like having the forecast working on FancyWidget. . . anyone know a way to properly install News & Weather on this ROM to make it work?
Edit: Apologies. This bug is actually due to tower-based location being nonfunctional in a clean install of MIUI. Installing it over top of another ROM would apparently fix this, but create other issues. I'll just let FancyWidget use my GPS location till someone gets this bug ironed out!

Yes, flash the Google apps in the OP...
well first of all i am dislexic and i know i spellt that wrong lol and how do u know i am just asking did u get to try out the app or something
Question for you folks...I did the fresh wipe format everything routine...all seems well other than sms...it appears to install just fine, but restoring any backup fails. I've tried uninstall/reinstall/permissions, etc., and I haven't gotten the bugger to work...any ideas how to fix. I'd rather not start over just yet 'till I get a good look.

You're right; it just seemed to be unable to determine my location based on Verizon towers, so I had to activate GPS geolocation for it to get a location properly (short, of course, of just manually giving it one, but I travel a lot).
That said, I really can't get the news and weather widget to work properly, which is odd, but I don't really need it for anything at all, so no biggie. Someone else mentioned it should be installed with the google apps .zip you linked earlier, but really, that didn't seem to work, as I flashed it immediately after flashing the main ROM zip. Not a big deal, just wondering if something didn't click over right when I flashed the google apps zip.

I've having been following the MIUI developers from the very start, and follow the MIUI apps closely as well. The first thing that the developers noticed when trying to port over the weather widget was that it only pulls weather info for China and nowhere else.

Make sure you have network location turned on in the phone settings. If it's turned off (which I suspect yours is), no apps can locate you based on network location.
