New weather and news widget.. Whatever. I live in hawaii 99% of the news doesnt affect me and I know the weather. 72-82 and sunny.

Sorry, but I travel a lot and want to know up to minute weather and have it be able to update without me doing a thing, I like knowing what is going on with the world and think more people shoud also care!

New supoprt for voice to text entry. REALLY? Voice to text.. Ummm. Might as well just make the call then. Who uses that?

YES REALLY, sometimes when your all grown up and working there are times when you need to have a text to speech function VS typing it out which is faster! So yes looking forward to that!

Gallery with 3D layout. 3d LAYOUT. What does that really mean? One little thing might be in 3d. Like the rfame of the gallery. but not everything will be 3d. Again i'm not seeing a big deal here

It means three diminsional, The layout of the gallery is way more user friendly and looks good! Just so you know this is not like avatar and your pictures will not jump off your Droid even with the cool glasses! Yes I have used it and want the official version!

Live wallpapers. Cool but, useless. No real function other than playing with them. You'll be tired of that in a day or 3 and none of your friends are going to want to see it for more than 8 seconds.

Some people who are out of highschool have a yahoo account or two, I have had one for so many years that changing it up now would be a huge undertaking to switch everything over. I am slowly switching over things to my google account. Yahho accounts are fine and have worked great over the many years I have had them!

Google maps update. My google maps is fine but I guess an update coldnt hurt. They could send that out on its own now though so I dont get it. My google maps updates like once a week.

Google maps could use more up to date maps.

Improved pattern lock functionaliyt but AFAIK its still perfectly UNsecure. It is NOT a lock. Not at all not even close, unless I miss something. Cant you just call the phone and hit back to get around the lock?

I may be mistaken but that maybe one of the fix issues. Also you have to KNOW the number to call to do the whole deal to steal info so it kinda limits the suspect pool!

Improved handset audio with a WIRED headset. yaeh.. Let's go back to wires. Wires are cool. Ufck mobility.

This isnt just for the headset, it is also for the 3.5mm jack that people use to play music over the radio, so this will be a HUGE fix for the people that use the Droid as their main Mp3 player in the car.

So yeah, I'm shytting on the 2.1 update. Sorry. It's jsut laughable. they put all this crap together that they can jsut release seperately and hope you wont notice flash isnt in there :icon_evil::icon_evil: grrrr

Why, they dont have to realease crap after you bought the phone, I have had 0 updates on any of the other phones I have had over the years, the Droid has already had one and now we are getting a whole makeover of the OS in less than 6 months??? If you have noticed flash was never supposed to be included or released with 2.1, as SEVERAL people have said it is ADOBE mot VERIZON or MOTOROLA! Adobe also said it wouldnt be released until later this year anyway, so people getting all upset about flash is like people getting upset because GM hasnt released the volt even though it's slated for a 2011 release!!!:icon_evil:

Wow.....really all this over an update. How do anyone get that worked up over an update. When you bout your device it was and is still working fine. I doubt you bout it for the 2.1 update, if so you should have waited for the nexus. With or with out the update I am satisfied with my purchase.
Would I like the ota; yeah when ever it is released, but it does not dictate how i feel about my device or moto/vzw. THose raving over the update with such anger should either play with your device more, or get a new device, because you will probably never be satisfied with the droid.

he guys i didnt see a this posted anywhere but i was checking out engadget and found that hong kong is getting 2.1 by the end of march Motorola Milestone gets 2.1 firmware upgrade in Hong Kong, Europe to follow by 'end of March' -- Engadget

I'm wondering the same. Isn't the Droid the only CDMA version of the it in the world?

It is starting to seem like verizon is over doing it. They should have just released it the way that motorola made it. But you may have a point; if they are the only CDMA device, and verizon do not use sim cards. Then the changes to the cdma version may be what is causing the problem.

The one for the Droid says something about an unsigned mbm (whatever that is). Maybe they are trying to fix that and thats what is causing the issues.

Maybe, but the root option or superuser option was probably meant for tech use. So I do not think they will be able to get rid of that with out causing problems. And that show the source of the sbf files that has been popping up on this forum. What ever verizon is doing is causing issues, They seem to be having more problems with 2.1 then with 2.01, and 2.1 is half the file size isn't it.
