i think we should close this and make a new rule no 2.1 coming soon threads any longer. its ridiculous almost 1500 replies (2 times now) for live wallpapers, and better battery life etc.. we should make a rule only make a 2.1 thread if you got it officially and you need to have proof. just my opinion. cause its more annoying to here people talk all day about something that may or not be released soon, then to here about how people rooted there phones and don't care.

If the update does begin to roll out tomorrow, would it be in that same pattern of 1000 on the first day etc. ? Or is that first 1000 thing done (according to Verizon) ?

If the Verizon Rep I spoke with on Friday did in fact know what he was talking about he said the roll out would be exactly the same as was previously posted.

Newsflash: Verizon reps have no idea what they are talking about when it comes to updates.

hey guys im located here in chicago illinois and my phone just rebooted and is asking me to activate it and i try to activate it but it wont let me i had this droid for 2 months working fine and i also notice it has a triangle on the top.. maybe 2.1 coming in?? whats going on i cant activate it either n cs is available. im stuck on the avtivate screen right now as i type

EDIT: CS is NOT available and the phone is stuck on activation screen i try and try to re activate it and it says it cant activate at this time. also i find this weird bacause it was working fine an hour ago. now its acting like a new phone and the triangle.

Agreed! Half the Verizon reps have no clue about current features of the phones and don't take the time to learn them either. Verizon reps are basically there to tell you what you want to hear to make some money off of ya with the exception of a few reps that actually were knowledgeable about the phones and their features and software.

My advice is to talk to someone at Verizon that actually OWNS a droid as that person may be willing to find out the info since he/she will probably be waiting for the update release as well!

Which is what I had said yesterday in my original post that I spoke with a rep that not only owned a Droid but he was a scholar on the subject and completely up to date on every single thing that had been happening. I have no idea if he was BSing me but he seemed like he was trying to be as honest as he could be, he estimated it would be another couple weeks and he said the release was planned to be the same as previously announced. I also said "who knows!"

Yeah the only thing with that is he isnt really involved in updates being a tech so it would be very difficult for him to get the info. He could be telling the truth and he could be full of sh*t. We will just have to wait and see what happens.

Look, I'm a Flextronics technician and device specialist in a VZW retail store. If you don't know Flextronics, we're the technicians with the white name tags. What I posted the other day was a direct email from the new york metro area director of verizon. As of now, the only other information we got was that it was delayed, with no reason. So any tech who says they know what's going on is full of sh*t. My estimation is this week, only because they didn't give us a reason nor a new expected release date, so I assume that the issue is just with deployment and will be resolved ASAP. But for us to have flyers, a corporate email, etc. about the update, it has already went through all testings and is ready to go.
As for anyone in Verizon just trying to make money off of you, that's only sales reps. They're the only ones that have commission pay and I do agree that some will say things just to make a buck, even though it can come back to bite them in the ass. But since that has been affecting return rates of phones, they've introduced the device specialists as a guide for both reps and customers for knowledge and to lower returns. And the upcoming return policies should help too I guess, ugh.
So when you go to a VZW store, always ask to talk to a DS first because its our jobs to make sure we know every phone in and out.
Personally, I think everyone should jump to Bugless Beast with helix launcher 2 and metamorph and forget about the official update.

The triangle means its not activated, that's all. Sounds like your droid just hard resetted itself, never seen that before. Was ot modded at all? Bypass activation and see if your stuff is still on the phone. To bypass, go to the first activation screen with the green android and tap the 4 corners of the backdrop to the android character in a clockwise motion, starting with the top left corner and ending with the bottom left. As for the phone not activating, it could be a problem with your account. If myverizon doesn't work, call customer service in the morning. 800 922 0204. Good luck
