2.1 ESE53 will be Official Release on the VZW Motorola Droid

So seriously, no update? This was posted on VZWs website, so it is official. The rollout date was not official.

I wonder if this is taking so long because they are having problems with backing up programs and such to ensure they are all there. When we root, most of us understand what the deal is, but the average person not so much. They would freak out if they had to install a couple programs again.

I talked to a couple guys at work that talk up their Droids, and neither had a clue the 2.1 update was coming, what was involved, or what root means. They are pretty heavy Droid users. I would say that is more representative of what VZW needs to program their update for, not us.

Hasn't it sunk in yet that if you want to talk about rooting go talk about it in the rooting thread?

Second, this last report of the rollout WAS NOT A LEAK. It was an official alert from Motorola from twitter - I got an OFFICIAL email.

You did not get any announcement from Verizon - doesn't matter what Motorola says

Lets try to keep this thread clean - about 2.1 coming out. Not stupid rooting talk or vaporware or duke nukem.

Not talking about those things but your rude response is a reminder for me of why I don't generally post an opinion at all

Be as it may, Verizon decided when we get it, not Moto. So the final word is from VZW.

Yes the final word came from VZW went to MOTO and then it was announced. Why is it such a hard concept. Do you think VZW worked on the update or MOTO did? VZW tested it... that all. Thumbs up went to MOTO and MOTO announced it.

To add to what I was saying (no editing sucks!), this is no different than a Blackberry OS release.

Yes, RIM pushes it. Yes, RIM hosts it. No, RIM is not the one that gives the information as to when its out, and Verizon updates publicly when it is IS available. RIM then has the go ahead to open the floodgates.

I've experienced the same,but I don't think that anyone should persude you from voicing your opinion; that's what these boards are for.

If the update does begin to roll out tomorrow, would it be in that same pattern of 1000 on the first day etc. ? Or is that first 1000 thing done (according to Verizon) ?

my wife has a nexus and i was tired of waiting for 2.1, so i chanced it and rooted my droid and installed cyanogen and now have nexus in droid case. i have never done rooting before and was scared. but its so easy and took less than 10 min for the root and to insall needed app and then install cyanogen. best mod i have done and alot less buggy now and even less buggy than my wifes nexus.

Please do not mention root, or rooting in this thread, it angers people. For now on, at least in this thread, we will refer to rooting, as "milking the cow". Please notify everyone.
