Just to let you folks know I recieved the update this morning at around 5 A.M. central time here in arkansas, hope you all get it soon. There are a few bugs though I've noticed such as the low memory message is still there, first thing when the phone got to the desktop i had the low memory warning. Turned out to be facebook. Then the market forced closed. overall though a smooth running OS. Hope you guys enjoy!

Day 1

Just to report back after the update. One thing that I noticed. All my apps had to be re-installed. So if you haven't backed up your apps using something like Astro File Manager or something similar, do so. It will save you the trouble of having to go re-download them all. On a good note, I have noticed a DRAMATIC increase in speed during installation of all the apps. The screen swipes no longer lag. My swype in handcent doesn't lag anymore either. It is noticeably faster. Considerably faster.
Fortunately, I haven't had any issues like some previous posters were reporting. In fact, I have yet to have an issue. One other thing to note, after the second reboot, it will sit at the eye loading screen for a while.
And best of all, we get a freaking RESTART option!!!

Got it this AM in San Diego. All my apps were there, all data OK. Only thing is my digital battery charge % will not appear in notification area at top, as it used to. Tried several other apps too, no luck.

Ill update after a whole day of using gingerbread. The problems I had in the beginning were quickly solved and never returned. After I cleared the facebook data from my phone the low memory message never returned and nothing else has forced closed. I imagine it was just the software still setting everything up that caused the market to force close. That being said the phone as aethies said is a lot more responsive and battery life seems to have improved although don't expect miracles in that department. The phone though overall runs a whole bunch quicker with less lag and glitches.
