29.99 Unlimited 4g data

So all this talk of grandfathering in plans, does this mean if I go buy a TB today, get the 4G unlimited data and what not, that when I renew my contract in two years from now, after my current one with said TB and unlimited 4G expires, I will still be able to renew with that $29.99/month price? Is that what we mean by grandfathering in the price? As in, as long as I lock that price down now, I will always have it as I renew in the future?

That's a good question. I want to say yes.. As long as the today's 4G plan is still "compatible" with 4G phones 2 years from now, you would be able to keep the same plan/pricing.

I guess anything could happen, and 2 years from now Verizon could say, "Sorry, the unlimited 4G plan you have is not compatible with this new Droid Almighty device. You must upgrade to a tiered plan if you want this phone!"

I doubt they'll do that though. Even ATT let people keep their unlimited plans when upgrading from iphone 3GSs to iphone 4s.

I guess I'll ask Verizon that question directly then, if I can keep that 4G unlimited data rate in the future when renewing by hopping on board now then it is 1000% worth it to be an early adapter.

If the bionic doesnt drop in by the end of april, its the TB for me to lock in the 4g. Ill return it if the DB drops within the return policy time. If not, ill take the advice, sell the TB and grab the Bionic at retail. I want THAT phone ; )

I m on the TB now still trying to figure it out haven't rooted can't figure that out het either 4g is what they say it is I get it where I live heavy phone compared to the DX can't wait to get it rooted haven't been on anything stock for awhile

I trust his word sense he is ways giving me free upgrades, accessorizes and knew about the thunderbolt lease date, and battery issues back in February.

I kinda herd the same thing but I'm in a 4g area and I couldn't wait for Sonic 4g is what they say it is fast as my computer

No your 29.99 unlimited plan would only be good for the two years you signed the contract for then after the 2 years is up you are forced to sign a new contract with the new terms in it. So if you get in now and the unlimited data is dropped you'll be set for 2 years then after that you will have to switch to whatever the new plans might be. It sucks I know if it did make me set for life I would have jumped in already

Thats not true if you purchase the plan you are set for life per say as long as you dont change your plan or dont renew as it is now even if you dont renew you still go on a month to month deal and they dont change the price Verizon is the most expensive carrier out there they gotta give you some slack. I just went through this I already had a family plan with 2 $29.99 packages they said I didnt even have to get the phone to be grandfathered in but I wanted the phone.

Meaning if you sign for 2yrs and 1400 mins for X, you'll be able to keep the same call/data plan for the remainder of the time you choose not to re-up your contract. Verizon's answer to that was New Every Two, which gave you a discount on a phone, but you must sign a 2 yr contract duping you into whatever their plans cost at that time. So unless the terms and conditions on their contracts have changed since LTE dropped, you would be offered that same "grandfathering" for LTE. The only problem is that you CANNOT re-sign another 2 yr contract after this one, meaning the phones you would purchase via verizon would be at retail.

If they had changed the terms and conditions of the contract since LTE came out, im sure someone would have picked up on the verbage stating you must re-sign a new contract after your 1-2 year deal is up. Just my thoughts

I believe I have the same contract as you 1400 fam mine has special promo I got back about 3mon unlimited everything 2 lines voice text data Im in IL so taxes a little higher I pay about $165/ mo. when I just got my TB they said I am grandfathered in as long as I dont change my plan unless I add more then thats ok lol. They said it does expire like some stupid date 2038. Its hard to say they all tell you different stories this lady seemed to know what she was talking about but who knows
