5.5.5.893 FXZ .901/.902 compatible and.902 update

So how can I apply the directions on the first page to get .905 to work on my Bionic? I used the steps on the first page when .902 came out since I wasn't able to get it to work OTA. I followed the steps and was able to get to .902, but now .905 won't work. Any ideas?

Anyone know if these work on getting you back to 902 if you're on an ics leak?

I understand this is a noob question but I have not been doing this very long and I bricked my OD a couple of years ago by not asking questions and had to work days to get it back running. Here is my problem! I was running kin3tx v1.0 on .894 rooted as a straight out rom. hearing all the buz about ICS I thought I would get back into updating my phone myself. Had done this often with my OD but not so much with the Bionic. When I learned of safestrap I thought this was the ticket. I got my phone back to stock and then updated it to .905 foreverroot made it keep root. I then installed safestrap and made all the backups and rebooted my phone into what they call the unsafe side of safestrap which is currently running the stock .905 rooted. I then proceeded to move over to the safe side of safestrap but when I did it somehow stayed on kin3tx v1.0 .894 rooted. When I asked the safestrap thread how I could get my safe side of safestrap updated to .902 or .905 they sent me here. After reading this thread I was wondering if someone could point me in the right direction for a simple way to get my safe side of safestrap updated or is using the files and method in the this threads OP my best bet. As I understand it that method will keep all my data ( I have a TiBu waiting on my laptop just in case though) but will take the phone back to .902 and then I can update to the OTA .905 again and then re-install safestrap after that. I would like to say thanks for all the help you guys or gals can give me in advance but if you can't help me I would still like to say thanks to everybody in this thread. As I have read all 75 pages there are some really nice people in here who really want to help those they can.

I got back to .902 and it worked great. I did lose all of my stored data that I didn't back up though. I thought it was supposed to save the internal SD card settings based on what was said. I was on the leaked .2233 ICS build and wanted to get back to GB. Thanks for the files now I just need to go download all of my apps again. It really did work great I just wished I had backed up my apps first.

Interesting. Maybe someone can explain this bc I've used this method and his files and never had it wipe my internal sdcard. Sorry that happened to you man!

bobby, I think you are mixing up system data partition with your internal sdcard storage partition.... sarge's FXZ will always wipe data from the system partition (so you end up with a Bionic that boots to the welcome android screen as when you get the phone from VZW), however his original xml had a command to wipe the data from the internal sdcard storage (sdcard) partiton as well...and that's he command that was taken out of the xml...so now when you run the FXZ now it wipes system data but leaves both sdcard partitions intact (sdcard and sdcard-ext)

Also wiping data as much as a pain in the a$$ it is. Is there for safety reasons cuz if u have done any root modifications only a data wipe will fix it or if ur running a rom thats deblured only a data wipe will put it back to stock

Bobbyp- if you have your Apps backed up in playstore a factory reset should restore them. You shoul get a message that says 23 (or whatever) updates available. Set update automatically by default and let it run. That will put most (if not all) of your apps and keys for paid apps right back.

Well my phone is running great. After going back to. 902 I did the. 905 OTA and I am pretty sure after about an hour in the Play Store my apps are back even the ones I have deleted over time and have forgotten about. The phone feels fresh and fast with the extended battery lasting the way it used to. Best thing I have done with this phone in months.
