[ROM] [6/18/12] CM9 ICS For the Droid Pro

Came back to say that I have installed this! It's pretty snappy. Thanks Jackpot! Is anyone else have force closes with the sounds settings?

Everyone. You can choose between a working camera or sound settings. If you don't need the camera the earlier build is working with sound settings.

Since the ringer changes with the notif bar I'd rather have a camera.

Ringtones

You can use the Music app to play the song you want as your ringtone, hit the menu button, and choose "Use as ringtone" You can also still set individual ringtone through the Contacts app. Mail and text messaging apps will let you set default tones for them in their settings menus. So right there you've worked around the majority of the Sound Settings menu. I agree with the previous post. Use the working camera version.

guys, i managed to make a "frankestein " of the 2 ics releases, so i now have volume settings working. camera working and gsm data connection working....
i cleaned and wiped everything, then i installed the 3-4 version, then i pushed via adb all the libs from the 3-21 version, and also the camera apk
after a reboot magically camera works (like n 3-21 version) with gsm data connection and audio settings menu...
now i'm testing...

Wow, nice work Airon11! Put it up online; I'll totally give it a shot if it proves to be relatively stable.

Sent from my DROID Pro using DroidForums

Hmm where is it possible to find that 4/11 version to try?
Or better..what kind of hacks are needed to put d2g from in our Droid pro?

I see you already found a way to merge the two droid pro builds, so thats the best way to go. Otherwise, with the d2g build you basically need to update the build.prop to match the settings for the pro, replace the latinime.apk (for the keyboard) and the usr keylayout files (because the keys are diiferent). Even with all that, its not a very good build, the screen doesn't properly turn off and some other random bugs. I ran it about a day before I decided it really wasn't worth it, the phone didn't always work and the other issues made it annoying to use. I reverted back at 4.7.3 for now.

Putting hardware differences aside completely... shall I sell my i9000 now?

Hardware differences aside, I'd say no. The reason most of us here use the pro is primarily because of the form factor and the physical portrait keyboard. If those don't matter to you, then there is no reason to use this phone and deal with the locked bootloaders, etc.

Unless you're a GSM user, than the tradoffs are working camera vs. working sound and data. :)

Does anyone have a link to the 3-4 version? The wife has been having a number of problems with ringing turning off and data drops w/ the 3-21 version.

Edit: Found it.. (searching in thread helps heh)

airon, any update on your build?
sorry i've been quite busy these days and haven't checked forum.
i don't have a buil environment, and i don't know how to do a build, what i did is simply install the 3/4 version on my droid pro and manually pussh all the libraries from the 3/21 build, after extracting the zip of the latest build
i also copied the camera.apk from the newest build to the oldest, always with adb push
so i think that you can do the same way to have a good final result...

Thanks for the info. I've never used adb to push files before, so let me make sure this makes sense before I start throwing things where they shouldn't be:

1. I flash the 3-4 build onto my phone.

2. I unpack the 3-21 zip file and push the "lib" directory to...where? /systsem/lib/ on my phone?

3. Push the Camera.apk from the 3-21 build...ok, I think I need a location for this one too.

Sorry to be a dunce.

Copy via adb push the library files (not directory) inside /system/lib
copy Camera.apk inside /system/app

remember that you need to mount /system in read write before doing this ( you can do it with root explorer)

after the copy reset permission to the files you copied to 644 (rw r r)
after a reboot everything should work!

Great! Thanks for all the help. Now I have to decide between trying out this frankenbuild and giving Gummy a shot. CM has always been my favorite, though.

EDIT 2: Well, it was a bit of a nailbiter, but it looks like your instructions worked like a charm! So glad to have stable audio, I really need that to get through the day. Thanks a lot for the tip!
