No keep your rom detto!
Okay here's the Alpha zip. It fixes many bugs and annoyances from the last ROM way back in November. It's for the Gingerbread kernel so it will work with any official build of the Gingerbread kernel (I personally use the latest .zip). The one biggest change to get accustomed to is the implementation of the bootmenu that I ported over from the CyanogenDefy team. For those who don't know what this is, when the device is booting up, there is a small window of time indicated by the LED blinking blue for a second where the user can press the volume down button while the LED is blue and boot into this little menu. From there, you can access Clockwork recovery, mount your sdcard, or connect to ADB, and do many other things. It's very useful because it can save you many SBFs and bootloops as you can access Clockwork recovery and restore if your device isn't booting. If you choose to not go into the bootmenu, it will simply boot up regularly like it wasn't even there. One new thing to mention about the bootmenu is that it uses a new version of Clockwork recovery where backups are in the form of system.ext3.tar rather than a system.img. This means that the new recovery cannot restore backups you made with the version of Clockwork recovery. If you wish to restore an old backup that is in the form of system.img, I have a tiny little .zip that you can flash in the new Clockwork recovery that will, when you reboot your device, boot into the old Clockwork recovery so you can restore an older backup of the system.img form. If you wan't to restore a backup of the old system.img form, download this: OldClockwork.zip, boot into the bootmenu, select Clockwork recovery, then install the zip you just download above, and after that's done, reboot, and you will be in the old Clockwork recovery where you can restore backups in the form of system.img
On the initial boot, for some reason or another, WiFi doesn't connect, but after a reboot it will connect fine. It only does this on the initial boot and is fine for all subsequent boots. Since the last version of this ROM was way back in November, I strongly recommend a system, data, and cache wipe if you're coming from the previous version. The md5sum is 6357157109a1cb1bdf06ca3aeed0564d, and 6-3Alpha.zip and is ready for download here: 6-3Alpha.zip
As always, after you wipe system, data, and cache, (or just system + factory reset) you can install GAPPS if you choose to do so.
What works: Pretty much everything I could test out
What I couldn't test out: Mobile data, GSM
Since my D-Pro no longer is in service, I need you guys to test out and report your findings on the GSM and data connectivity :-D
If you install GAPPS, you will find that all Google-Related apps that could be download from the market will have to be (Gmail, Voice search) so the voice search button on the keyboard will be useless unless you download the app

Great to find you back on the threads JackpotCalvin... a lot of us where wondering if the project was abandoned ...
Fantastic work on the CM7 and CM9 ROMS you've been supporting !!!!
Kudos to you guys !!!
As you are on the credits / thanks tree on the GUMMY ROM thread ... i assume its safe to ask ... (hoping there is no conflict with that ROM and devs)
Currently my DP runs the CWM bootloader and as a result has the older version of the CWM recovery ... currently i am testing the GUMMY ROM ... primarily bcos GSM and DATA over GSM is functional/stable on this ROM ...
1. Is it possible for you to create a zip file to flash/upgrade the above recovery you mention on my DP running Gummy ?
2. If yes please provide complete instructions to the last t ... as i am just a power user and with no dev knowledge
thanks in advance !!!
I don't know about Gummy, sorry! The easiest thing you can do is boot into clockwork, and wipe the system, data, and cache and then install the ROM
If you wan't to restore a backup of the old system.img form, download this: http://www.mediafire.com/?bby6geuu5gejnag, boot into the bootmenu, select Clockwork recovery, then install the zip you just download above, and after that's done, reboot, and you will be in the old Clockwork recovery where you can restore backups in the form of system.img
this is the GUMMY link i am talking about ...

I just wanted to upgrade my CWM recovery to be able to handle the .tar backups as well ...
Only if you could make a small ZIP that would only upgrade the existing Droid Bootstrap CWM recovery ver 2.5.0.8 to your latest defy ported recovery which handles .tar backups.
Can we expect your defy ported CWM recovery upgrade only zip ?
How's GSM detto? And anybody using CDMA data?
