A Msg To Those Who Support Android But Not Google

i must say google is my all time favorite company. in fact i love them so much that i wish to work for them one day

i love android even more, not for the fact that its created by google, but the fact that its linux based, and ive been a long follower of linux, more so than google.

but the only thing that puts me off of google is the fact that they know too much. waaay to much. in my opinion, google is our #1 enemy. its also known, though not as widely, that google has close contact with our (US) govt. the US govt are the last people i want to be able to read my emails and view my search queries. i have nothing to hide, but im still not happy with the fact that its not only possible but being done

i just hope google sticks with their moto

"don't be evil"

we cant let a company as large as google turn on us, that would be a tragedy

heres to google staying pure :pint:

I'm sure he has convictions, and he's surely allowed his opinions, but dang, the constant ranting...
I know shouldn't complain cause no one is making me read his posts.

We may be the minority but there are some of us lurking in the dark shadows. We appreciate the stability of the Android OS and the potential it has for open development. We disagree with some of Google's decisions and practices within the OS and its handling with outside decision making. We want to make sure Google does not become our shepherd.

Briefly, our actions moving forward are simple. We will continue to support the Android OS by supporting the manufacturers who pump it out and the developers who program for the platform. For example, AT&T has other Android products being pushed by Dell, Acer, and others coming in the future. On Verizon, we have the Motorola Droid and future HTC devices. [LG, Samsung, and others are on the way]

We will not be supporting the Nexus device due it's DNA being encoded by Google [and for that matter any future Google Phones, not to be mistaken with Android OS devices]. Sure, it was produced by HTC...but they were HIRED by Google with the blueprint to produce.

I just wanted to get our message out there. The naysayers and critics of us will call us traitors...far from it. We support the raw, foundation of Android. We support the true developers of the platform.

We are not blinded like sheep grazing in the pastures of Google. Google is not our shepherd. We support the OS as a whole and it's raw foundation. If Windows Mobile 7 was to score on a hail-mary pass, then we may consider come late 2010...and if not we will have future 4G Android devices.

Stay strong and stay true fellow minions. Most of society will be swept up in a hysteria of propaganda...but we have seen the light. We will not be apart of the herd and the sheep mentality that follows it.

You *do* know that Google was pretty much completely behind the G1, MyTouch 3G, and the Droid as well, right?

Its like loving windows but hating Microsoft. Same thing as the Snow Leopard analogy.

I think what you want to say is "I love the Droid, but not the Nexus".

Wow, you're nuts. This sounds like the rambling of a crazy cultist. As was stated the droid and the nexus are essentially the same device, so you are also a hypocrite. I have been using google apps for about a decade now and never once have they stolen from me, insulted me or disappointed me. They do business under a very old model that has been used by free publications for years, profit while supplying a free service to the end user. what do you think antenna television had been, or radio for that matter, but if someone uses a computer to do it it's evil. Get a life.

Lets straighten out a couple of misconceptions here....

1. Google is watching us? We disagree with the philosophy behind their actions within the OS and then ultimately their January 5th announcement. This post has nothing to do with Google being the information nest-egg of the world or their dominion in various domains on this earth.

2. Lets not confuse the Nexus and ANY OTHER Android Device on the market...and any FUTURE Android device not apart of the G-1/MyTouch/Nexus/etc line. We are talking about supporting the manufacturers who have agreements with carriers world-wide and who simply use the Android OS, regardless of help with tweaking from Google. The Nexus was created because Google found a manufacturer to produce a phone for them...not because it was an HTC device like the Eris, HD2, Imagio, etc. The Motorola Droid was not created FOR Google...it was created with the Android OS in mind. The Nexus was created FOR Google.

The nexus was also created with the android OS in mind.... that's the point of it being an android based phone.

You keep mentioning that you disagree with the philosophy behind their actions within the OS. What would those be?

This gave me a good laugh.

But all comedy aside, I wouldn't be one to hate google too much, personally. There is no need for me to repeat facts that have already been mentioned but this post seemed self-inflated. I don't think most people really care about this. I have a google experience phone and google, as a company, makes various parts of my life much easier--their offerings have saved my butt on quite a few occasions.

Enjoy your phone and appreciate it--and yes, that means the company that pushed it And android

Google was almost completely behind creating the moto droid...just like the nexus. Again, if you don't support one, you shouldn't support the other.

Google did in fact help develop the Motorola device as well. I'm not sure why people are forgetting that.

Not to mention it will be available via Google just like the Nexus. I think this is just the wave of the future and a way for them to branch out into the market by making the purchase of hardware and plans a much more streamlined process. Basically another option for the end user also a one stop shop so to speak.

Maybe what we saw yesterday is now the way future Android devices will be introduced to the world. I'm thinking next year, VZW's/Voda and T-Mo's latest and greatest will be featured. Something to think about.

This was a testing ground. Having your device featured with Google at CES is like being on the Oprah show : )

VZW/Voda and T-Mo are going to benefit immensely from this. It's free advertising. Again like being on Oprah.

It's a win win for everyone involved.

To clarify misconceptions....

Google did not give Motorola a blueprint to the design of the phone. This was a Motorola phone simply with Google's input for the coding of the Android OS. They wanted to make sure it stayed vanilla as possible. [Meaning no extra coding: Motoblur for example or HTC's SenseUI analogy.]

Do you think Google really said to Motorola, here is how you should create your phone? That is propaganda put out by both sides. Motorola did not create the Droid FOR Google. Motorola just wanted to come out with the best smartphone they could and decided to use the Android OS. There is no evidence of any other true involvement from Google.

The analogy that can be made is this....Foxconn produced the iPhone. No one goes around saying that Foxconn designed the phone. Apple hires them and gives the blueprint of the job. HTC was given a job by Google. Without Google approaching them, this specific Google Phone/Nexus would not exist.

In the empirical world and physical realm...the differences may not be noticeable. But there are indeed philosophical differences between the Android phones and the Nexus One/the actions of Google. We may not be able to see them in front of our eyes...but they exist.

Here's my question from before that you ignored.. You keep mentioning that you disagree with the philosophy behind their actions within the OS. What would those be?

Also, new question. What is wrong with Google making an android phone? It's like getting mad at a chef for cooking you a pizza, and then he makes one himself, and you tell him you hate him. WTF?
