OTA update notification is back again. Again, this is after a nandroid backup. Coincidence? I think not!

Anyone know why a nandroid backup would cause the OTA update notification to return?

It makes perfect sense since the Nandroid backup is an image of your Droid at the time of the backup... some system checks that triggers that OTA has been imaged back with the nandroid.

If you want it to stop, then make a new backup, right after restoring that nandroid backup and allowing that OTA to fail... then you'll have a nandroid that's exactly the same 'except' the OTA is no longer going to find those system checks that'll trigger that OTA again...

To be clear, I have allowed it to fail twice before, but performing a nandroid backup (not a restore) brings the notification back.

Does anyone know why I get this error after installing a theme?

The application Multi-touch (process com.android.inputmethod.latin) has stopped unexpectacly
It happends with... .Incognito.THEME-R3Ds, REVOlution.THEME.((FIXED))-R3Ds and GoldenElegance
It was happening with LUNA theme before. Once IcculusX made the update it worked fine. Could it possible be looking for the multi-touch keyboard apk??

Its an issue with the keyboard. Ill post an update.zip that includes the stock keyboard. NOT THE MULTITOUCH It will fix your problem.

Flash this in recovery. Will install the stock keyboard and the lib file that it uses. It works on clockwork unsure if it works in sprec.

If it doesnt work shoot me a pm and I'll walk you through it manually.

i had just installed Ultimate Droid 7.0.. kinda new to all this .. seems to still have root.. i okay'd the install.. went to sprecovery and restarted.. it was done? sorry to be a pest..

That would be very odd considering that the nandroid backup process doesn't clear any data.... I have had it return after I restored an image backup of a ROM that was made prior to the update, but that was completely fixed by simply redoing another nandroid backup after the failed OTA...

I think you're the only one that gets the OTA to return after 'only' doing a nandroid backup...

EDIT:... just thought of something... wonder if that's the second OTA that is supposedly hitting now??

I saw you mention SweeterHome in posts before, but I still have tried it out. Seems like it's really treating you right though. I only use Launcher Pro and think I'm gonna have to finally give SH a try on your recommendation. I'm off to read up on it now.

i use the chevy ulv 1.2GHZ and it runs great for me. Gets a little warm at times, but not worrisome.

"Better" is completely subjective. Some ROMs work better on one phone and worse on another. Just change until you find the best. :blackdroid:
