Sorry to but in here but is this for getting 3g data to work? or just to get the rom to work in general?

I know we don't have LTE yet on this rom but if 3g data can work consistently I'll drop all I'm doing and flash right now.

This is for getting wifi And 1x working. As stated above, 3g works only sporadically, but this fix is for people who have the 901 radio firmware and can get nothing working until the files are replaced.

No but make sure you hit reboot phone in SafeStrap and not reboot recovery. Also make sure you write and format /system before you install in safe mode

Do I the factory reset, wipe cache, wipe dalvik cache, and format/system in non-safe mode, then toggle to safe mode to flash ICS...?

Toggle to Safe, then do the reset/wipe. At least, that's what I do (and it works fine).

My unsafe is .893. After updating to one of the diff alphas, my phone process does nothing but end/force close.

Why should my unsafe base have anything to do with my safe base? I pasted in the 901 lib files - I should just wipe everything and reflash the latest alpha to get back on track?

If you flashed the 901 then you have the new radio regardless if if you are in safe our non safe. You then have to use the 901 libs in ics

I didn't flash the 901. I flashed 893 a long while ago. My phone function kept ending over and over after a certain alpha, and I thought I had to paste the 901 lib files, so I did. That fixed the phone closing issue, but I couldn't get data at all afterward.

Idk what the issue is at this point...

There, since you did not flash in 901, replacing those files will break ICS on your phone.

To put it more aptly, the firmware that the radio uses and the kernel are not safe or non safe specific. They apply to both, like normal firmware.

I wiped everything in the safe section and reloaded ICS. Everything seems well. I have not reloaded anything on the unsafe side - does that mean the pasted 901 lib files are still there?

Also, as I understand it, /mnt/sdcard is the same as /sdcard. If I change something in one location, it's changed in the other. It's this correct? What is the read only /sdcard-ext when I'm in safe system?

No, lib files are on /system, which gets wiped.

Also, sdcard-txt refers to your micro sdcard on the non safe side, but under ics, sdcard is your micro sdcard.
