Am I Missing Something?

I've been reading how rooted users are reverting back and trying to get the update. This confuses me since before the update came out rooted users were able to get the 2.2 leaked version. So why go through the trouble of getting the official update and go through all the headache of rooting it again if you can rock the leaked version.

The leaked version was just that, leaked, probably a lot of users think they might be missing out on something the official version has to offer...ie: bug fixes

There could be a number of reasons. Some people don't like the idea of voiding their warranty and feel better now that stock 2.2 is available. Some people root and find out it's not that big of a deal. Some just do it because they can do it.

I've rooted my Droid, removed the root for a stock OTA update, rooted again, and went back to stock again. I probably won't ever root again, although I will admit there are a lot of advantages when you do root.

What's wrong with wanting a stock Incredible? I heard it was a great phone stock.

I rooted because I was tired of waiting for the OTA. Since rooting, I will honestly be hard pressed to ever go back stock. In all honesty, I'm finding out the ROM's built on the leaks can be good or even better than the stock OTA's. I'm running a ROM that has removed every bit of Verizon bloatware and really does seem to help the phone run better. Plus, I like being able to tweak and customize more than non-rooted.

Beyond that, I really am liking the wireless tether without having to shell out the additional bucks. I'm paying enough for two phones each month as it is, I really hate giving more for the 3G Hotspot when I can do it on my own.
