And this is why I got my droid from......

I share your daughters sentiments! My Mac Book Pro and iMac perform flawlessly. My Droid is the same. AT&T -- no comment necessary.

According to their site they do. Apple - Batteries - Battery Replacement

If customer service is saying no then you at least deserve an explanation of why your device does not qualify.

Either that customer rep didn't knew what he was doing or I can't understand english. I asked him like 10 times. But, he was like no. the only reason I had an iphone because there was no alternate to iphone at that time. Plus I think iphone 4 is really a windows vista for apple. I know already two people who love my droid x and have iphone 4. Imo apple make quality products but are way too over confident that no one can beat them. At one time nobody could even think about touching microsoft. So time changes and I hope google keeps on doing better. But its just me but you won't see my buying a iphone. A company that takes month to acknowledge that they f@#### up.

As you said, it is possible the customer rep was wrong, but from the context I'm guessing this was a while ago, so maybe the warranty has also changed. That happens from time to time.

I agree that Apple has grown confident, even overly so. That's one of the reasons why I'm glad Android is here. Competition is good. It might even convince Google to pick up the slack on some of the areas where Apple makes them look sad, like, ehem, the Market.

Short of a groveling request for forgiveness and a full refund for the world, the harsher critics were never going to be satisfied with Apple's response. Some of us felt the same way about Microsoft once-upon-a-time. Guess I just don't care about company antics anymore. Let the Justice Department deal with illegal acts, competition deal with shoddy products, and I'll just buy the product I like, sans the drama.

Well in your first post the customer service rep said battery is covered for one year( which is correct) plus two years with AppleCare, then you post later its not covered for one year. The cost is $85 including shipping. Factory battery for my Droid X $40 plus shipping one year warranty. So I'm saying your not making sense except to hate on Apple. I have had good experiences with Apple.

. . . So I'm saying your not making sense . . .

I think you're mixing up the posts between Abe and I. I posted the link showing that the battery is covered. Some things Abe said in reply made me realize his experience with customer service was a at least a year or two in the past. I don't remember what the warranty said a couple yeas ago. There was some controversy about Apple's battery replacement policy around then, so it is possible that Abe's iPhone was not covered at that time.

I don't believe I've said anything that could be called Apple hate. I'm probably in more danger of being accused of apologizing for them. Since I do like their products it something I have to watch for. It makes for sloppy thinking.

Abe is obviously frustrated with Apple and happy with his new Droid. An occasional rant doesn't count as being a hater in my book. We all blow off steam now and then, and we all like to rave about how great something is. Sometimes people do both at the same time.

If you didn't get the first time, here is how the conversation went.

I said,"my battery keeps on dying like in an hour after full charge.

Rep said, "what's your serial number?"

I said, "242436@#@&$96,and I bought it on november 12 2009."

Rep said, " well the battery is not covered in the warranty."

I said,"listen, I just had a replacement unit like a month ago. I have had this problem since then."

Rep said,"i am sorry but battery is NOT covered."

I said,"are you kidding me? This product is not even a year old and you are telling me the battery os not covered?"

The augment went on and I hung up. Call then about your iphone and day your battery sucks and then come back to me what they say. I don't hate apple since this. I have had the iphone 2g, 3g, 3gs and macbook pro. After that I sold everything because I just don't want apple in my house. Its just me.

Can't say anything else, you covered prey much everything. But that was only 2 months ago. I should have looked into the warranty but I thought if he said then the rep would be right

It is sad that this guy didn't do the right thing, which would have been to bump you up the chain for a closer look at why the database said you did not qualify.

In the end it doesn't mater how good a company's overall support is there is always at least one bad rep, or one good rep having a bad day, who will unnecessary ruin a customer's day. I hope you don't meet this person again. I never have, but some people seem to attract them.

Yup it just takes one person like that to mess up your day. And then you get soooo mad that you just don't even care.

No I didn't get you confused, Posts 1, 12, 17 are what I am referring to.

Now the OP has changed/expanded his story. If the serial # you gave was a refurb phone then this is a well known glitch in Apple's system. A simple trip to a Apple store with receipts and the problem will be taken care of. Refurbs are covered for min 90 days or the balance of your original warranty which ever is LONGER. http://www.apple.com/legal/warranty/iphone.pdf
The customer service rep only sees first activation date of the refurb phone. it is funny when a poster changes important details from their original post then takes offense at some replies. :iphone:

Ah, now I understand. I didn't respond to the warranty issue until post 10, where it is more clearly stated. The sentence in the first post is pretty mangled. I'm guessing he typed it in a hurry and the second 'that' should have been a 'not'.

If the Apple folks do comment please keep the discussion civil so it does not turn into "Cider"

BTW -- I use an iMac and Mac Book Pro. :icon_ peace:

Mike

I'm sorry for you. :(

Just kidding.

Yeah, it should always remain civil.

I may not have been kidding, though. :icon_ devil:
