Andbody else take a their Droid back today?

I ran it in safe mode, over clocked, I did everything you could possibly do I am not [Edited by FoxKat for content] I am definitely gonna get an android phone just don't know which one imagine overclocking that snapdragon!

Trust me I know the droid is a freaking awesome phone just didnt want to get stuck wishing I had a nexus I LOVE 2.1 though!
You sound like you don't understand how the hardware works...

Funny I didn't overclock etc and my phone runs great and no lag...?

I didn't think the thread was bad
928 had a good point...
having an overclocked phone, with 2.1 software not designed for the device is asking for lag and issues.

... and a Task Killer is not the answer. They operate off the placebo effect, because they aren't needed.

I never used a task manager really i would only run in safe mode to have just the core processes to run so I could see if it was one of my programs causing the lag. And it's not like I was always on 2.1 and I overclocked a clean 2.01 to see if that helped the day I took it back I think I understand the hardware pretty well (honestly when are you going to use that stupid keyboard especialy when 2.1 hits with speech to text). And the nexus with twice the ram and processor speed in a couple months is pretty tempting but at least I have the option now. And go ahead and close the thread anyways I was just stating that the clause to return the Droid worked didn't see any body else posting anything about it so I thought I would.

Regardless of any other reason you may have... not wanting the physical keyboard is a good enough reason to return the device.
I HATED the idea of the physical keyboard before I got the Droid, but I bought it anyway because I wanted the device.... the physical keyboard grew on me. However, I can see how it WOULDN'T for other people.
You should be as close to completely satisfied with your phone as possible.

I don't think i would ever wish I had a nexus for 1 it doesn't come out till probally close to sept. By then im sure they will have a new phone maybe snapdragon DROID 2. And im pretty sure our phones are future proof for at least 2 years we have a 3d chip and a decent processor. I know people who have G1's and are still happy with there phone. I miss my Omnia but lack of anything 3d is what made the phone bad. Other than that hardware wise that phone is a beast. Most of the Chefs for Omnia went to DROID lol me bw and ad. :motdroidhoriz:

The the OP - I understand completely. I thought about the same until my old XV6800 got trashed by my toddler. Before I start getting flamed, keep in mind I use the phone for business email via exchange, and even with touchdown installed - accounts disappear, and some functions just aren't there like they are in Mobile Outlook (and Office).

Hopefully android OS will improve and these bugs get resolved, and maybe google can step up on the support side. Until then I will continue to reconfigure my email accounts every few days, and lug around my laptop in order to use my VPN connection - and like my DROID.

To Droid or not to Droid ...

If you don't like it, say why and return it. End of story.

It is really annoying to see posts that do nothing more than to incite a riot.

My question to the OP is as follows:

Just what were you expecting to hear back from your post?

One, you modded it, OC'ing needs root, and if you have that knowledge then you KNOW that it is not going to be an optimal device at this juncture, you KNOW what you are risking playing around with the OS, etc.

So your point was?
Your expectations on a response being was?

No one here is going to flat out tell you keep it or take it back based upon what you posted at the beginning. (my opinion only based upon the underlined section)

My post here is not designed to flame, or degrade you. Just an observation.

Movin on now ... I'm hoping xeudoxus over at alldroid gets V1.2 of the launcher2 apk ready this week to try out ....

My response to this entire thread is: "They'll be back".

I really believe that the Droid is the best phone on the market right now. Yes it is laggy sometimes but the software is still in its infantile stage and just needs to be optimized. I realize the return window is limited but anyone who makes a decision on a phone within a month of its release should have waited to buy it. Anyone who buys a new phone, especially one as complex as the Droid, should expect some bugs and updates before it reaches its optimized state.

I originally posted which i stated a couple of times that there was a clause that if you had purchased a phone between certain dates you could return it up to January 13th thats it not asking for really any response just giving my reasoning of why I turned it back in and was curious if anyone else had done the same.

edit* And I already stated that I am coming back after either the 2.1 update runs smooth on the droid or maybe I will wait for the nexus?

Well from reading through this post, I would say you got your answer: about 5 people. :motdroidvert:

Along with Dan, I think that too many people do not spend enough time with the Droid in the store before making their decision to get it.

I spent and hour and a half on it while I had my wife play with her LG she wanted.

One cannot make a purchase decision on such a device after toying with it for 5-10 minutes IMO. Even if you have 30 days to play with it after you leave the store.

Cheif, I'm just suprised that at your level, you know things are only going to get better for the Droid, but hey, you have to do what makes youself happy.

Nothing is totally hassle free device wise, but were getting there.

the same people will complain about the nexus because it is going to have problems during initial launch. Do what you do....complain. Get the phone you want stop trying to justify to the forum why you going to do what you going to do. Do it and move on.
And I do not see the droid 2 coming out this soon, they just launched the droid. It may be in the making but I do not see a second droid being released until a year from now, probably later because verizon is building a new network.

People was saying close this forum.......I say sticky it and retitle it people who want to cry about returning their droid for the iphone or another phone because "the phone don't cook, clean, wash the car, pay bills etc"
That way we do not have to see another one of these pop up a week later.

LOL whatever I did not think it was really that big of a deal I mean I didn't bad mouth the phone or anything I know it's a phone when it comes down to it no device is perfect. I just wanted to make sure that I am not stuck with something I really don't like for 2 years. I apologize for even posting this stupid thread didn't mean to make anybody upset lol
