I'm still impressed with Windows Phone 7.

I'm not going to get one, but I actually have heard good things about Windows Phone 7 in comparison to other older versions (I know, it could only get better). But I do want to take a look at it to see where it is now.

I tried out a Samsung Focus for a couple of weeks awhile back. It is an extremely smooth experience - I would almost say smoother and more responsive than the iPhone. It's a simple layout, and there's really not much to "tinker" with, but honestly it's a small percentage of the population that wants to tinker with their phone anyway.

If MS can handle it correctly, and that's a big if, it really should have no problem competing with Android and iOS over the next few years, b/c as far as the platform itself, it's really nice.

Android is a pure mobile OS. Apple,much like WinMo just shrunk their computer OS's in the size of our hands. Apple did it right from jump, however it is merely a Mac with finger friendlyness aesthetics.

Yeah I don't think that's as far fetched as people think - if only b/c Android/WP7 will be on multiple handsets, and iOS is tied to one single device released once a year.

I read that about Windows Mobile 7 as well. I have a feeling someone was being more than a little optimistic in that article, to tell you the truth. I honestly don't see Windows 7 picking up that much over the next 5 years. No indicators are leading towards that growth.

Good point - Jobs knows his device is in high demand, and I'm sure there is some sort of marketing psyche that goes into having a single device that makes people want it more.

The fact that iOS is only on one device allows for their image as a mobile developer depend solely on their devices rather then android where the experience of the mobile os depends on google and the cell phone developer, a user could think android is far inferior to another mobile platform due to the devices poor hardware.

This is true, but there's also the obvious fact that freedom to choose your own device with Android and WP7 draws people to these 2 companies as well. Some people want all the latest technology with all the bells and whistles, whereas some only want the simple, plain Jane.

After all, this is America, where we have the right and privelege to decide what we want. (Lol sorry I love making extreme references to America).

Thats a very good point! The ability to choose, and the ability to have multiple price points for devices, are not only what made PC popular over Macs but what I believe is a major deciding factor for people who buy smartphones. Android being fragmented is a bane to the power users, but a blessing in a business sense. Regular customers dont really care about power options, or updates. And in my eyes it is a good marketing strategy to be able to appeal to (almost) any budget. Aside from last november's heavy marketing campaign, I believe that this fragmentation is what has lead Android to be Apple's major contender.

Throw windows mobile 7 into the mix, and you have a company that is cut throat, has the money (for now ) to back any investment, and learns from their mistakes. As for usability, well lets compare desktops yet againg. We have Apple, the locked down style of Linux, we have Windows, the open (in the sense of programming and user restrictions) and proprietary OS, and Android, the iOS's black sheep of a cousin and best of both worlds

You have honestly fit the description of that word more than anyone I have ever dealt with on a forum.... but then you stopped completely. Are you mad that I called you out on the way you posted...? I am assuming that is where your frustration must be coming from... because its rather immense if its just stemming from some apple talk. I am sorry if I made you angry. Well... to be clear... I never stated that I was smarter than all apple people, nor was I smarter because I own an android. I said that I think that apple has more noobs.. based on my opinion and experience... you can say that is false... sure, it probably is.

And to be clear again, I referenced the fact that I was studying towards an MBA purely to justify that I had some marketing background for my reasoning... but I guess that could be interpreted as arrogant... so sorry about that one.

Like I said... my apple remarks are usually biased.. and I make fun of them a lot. But many people on this forum and others can see through that and are well aware that I am just picking fun and know that I actually respect their products and software. I think the OP is aware of that as well. So whatever arrogant or obnoxious comments you think that I have made... Let's get something out of the way before I respond to this rambling. I haven't changed the way I posted at all. If someone says something stupid (like you did multiple times in this thread), I'm going to tell you about it. I've gotten banned like 3 times from this forum, and it was because of the way I posted, and I'm sure every moderator who banned me has no problem telling me that, and I have no problem accepting that. Please don't get the misconception that I've suddenly become some "nice guy". I just respond in kind to how people talk to me. There's been instances where I've handled it wrong, and I've gotten banned for it, and that's that. If you think I suddenly changed the way I post, it's because it became pretty evident to me that the only criticism you would take for your "plan" would be positive criticism and not anything I had to say. Like I said in that thread, your plan is good, but it's not going to work. You couldn't handle that, and so my posts detailing why its not going to work, were immediately labeled as obnoxious in your head. I consider them realistic, but hey everyone has their opinions. You're not a child, you should be able to handle some criticism (or a reality check). Now to address your silly remarks:

It is clear that you want to be direct, no arguing that. But you also want to flame me in public and then have me go to PM...? And apparently the mods are cool with it too...? I have no problem with criticism as you imply, I have owned up to being wrong numerous times and I have acknowledged your criticism and others many times even if I didn't agree with it. Your goal seems to be rooted in negativity though... I think it would be easier for me to believe that you were just giving constructive criticism, if every word that has come out of your head wasn't extremely negative, flaming, or personally insulting. I hope that all this negativity is somehow helping you... maybe this is an outlet to get rid of it/reduce it.. so that your normal life is more positive? Or are you just a grumpy guy always? I find that hard to believe. I have a feeling that you are probably nice in person when you are not behind the screen.

Seriously? I don't know if you just have a bad memory, or you're just trying to deny (or lie) about what happened. In another thread, you were the one who told me to take it to PM after rambling in the "public forum" at which point I did take it the PM, at which point you bought it back into the public forum and told me to take it to PM, again. And now you're upset that I told you to take it to PM. No...seriously? Gimme a break. Do you want me to provide you links to that thread when you told me that? Seriously, just stop...it's getting out of hand now.

Secondly, not sure where you're getting "the mods are cool with it". If they PMd you and told you you were wrong, then that's their prerogative. If they tell me I'm wrong, and ban me, that's fine too. I didn't imply nor am I saying that any mod is agreeing with me or supporting me. I don't need a mod to speak for me. You need to calm down, and stop getting upset when someone tells you you're wrong. If the mods agree with me, it's because you're wrong. Accept that and move on.

Third..."flaming in public". It doesn't matter if you do it indirectly or directly. Flaming is flaming. Saying "Mac users are noobs" or "czerdrill you're a noob" is flaming. Do you think that there are no mac, iphone, users here? By calling them noobs, that's not flaming them? I didn't mean to offend by asking you to google infosec. I just figured, if you don't know what something is, the first thing anyone, especially someone who seems to think they are smarter then the average bear, would know to google it.

I don't like the people who insult apple and worship android devs like lapdogs. That's extremely lame. When I make immature posts, I've been called out, and like I said I've been banned plenty of times. I don't whine and cry about it like you're doing. Accept it and move on. You were wrong, and that's it. I don't consider myself better or worse then anyone else online or in real life. I'm a nice person to those who are nice to me and others.
